“Cheap and cheerful - be aware of the hard bed”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 December 2012

At only $21 US a night which included breakfast, this place offered great value.

It is clean, well located and the staff are very approachable and friendly.

Breakfast buffet was reasonable for the price especially with the made to order items. The dining area is a bit small though and on a busy morning, you have to wait for a table or share a table.

My only main negative point is that sleep quality was not great as the bed was very hard and the soundproofing not great. I love a firm bed but the bed I slept on felt like sleeping on a plank of wood with a very thin mattress on top. I could also hear every cough, chatter that went on in the next room.

Room Tip: If you are a couple, go for the bigger size room as the budget ones are very cramped

We stayed 4 nights in the family room. The staff were very helpful and always go the extra mile to make our stay pleasant. Ms Kathy gave us a great tourist map and tips on places to go and be street smart. The room had good amenities and clean. Location was very good, right smack in the old quarter where you can practically walk to a number of tourist attractions including shops. The airport transfer (USD17 per car) was reasonable. The staff even packed our breakfast as we were rushing to the airport. Check-in was efficient and the free Wi-Fi service in the room was good too. I would definitely stay here again when in Hanoi. Kudos to the hotel staff for making our stay great.

This was, by far, my favorite place to stay during my month-long SE Asia trip. The service provided by the staff is impeccable, and there is nothing they won't help you with. They are polite, speak great English, and won't rest until they know you have everything you need. My first room as very very small, but perfect for me as a solo traveler. If you're traveling with a companion, make sure you get something more than the basic room that is very small. They upgraded me to a larger room in the other building on my last night, another reflection of their service. They can arrange any tour you like and are very friendly. If I'm ever back in Hanoi, I'll be back at the Rising Dragon Villa!

Room Tip: If you're traveling with someone, make sure you get something bigger than the standard room whic...

Staff friendly and helpful, eager to give information both on guided tours and walking around the city. Room was small but had all amenities that we needed. Bed was quite hard though. Breakfast buffet in morning was fantastic way to start the day.

Room Tip: get a room without windows, it's quiet so you don't hear street noise

We stayed in Rising Dragon Villa for two nights, on either side of a 2D/1N Halong Bay trip. Although we didn't book the tour through the hotel they were kind enough to store our luggage for us, and when our pick up bus to Halong Bay didn't turn up the staff at reception were kind enough to ring up the tour company and arranged for a taxi to pick us up instead.
The breakfast area is small, but the buffet options are good. There is also an a la carte menu that you can choose items from - great idea as the meals are cooked fresh for you and minimises buffet wastage.
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful - we were upgraded to larger rooms on both nights which had nice comfy beds, free tea/coffee, water and jackfruit chips.
On our last day we had a 7pm train to Hue. The staff were kind enough to provide us with a room in the afternoon to have a shower (at no extra cost) and then a member of staff accompanied us to the train station where he made sure we boarded the train and in our sleeper cabin before waving us off.
Really couldn't fault this hotel, and would definitely recommend this little charming hotel to anyone that visits Hanoi.

Room Tip: The rooms on higher rooms are quieter and have better views.

Of all the hotels I researched to stay in Hanoi I am so pleased this was the one I picked. Our family (2a,2c) loved the location right amongst the busy Old Quarter and really enjoyed the delightful, peaceful sanctuary of the hotel that greeted us when we were exhausted from sightseeing. The staff were beyond helpful going over maps, tours, locations, options for dining, transport and more. They amended our stay without concern and booked Ha Long Bay cruise with only hours notice. Nothing was too much trouble. Our interconnecting rooms were on the top floor which afforded great views. Spacious, very clean and nicely decorated. Loved the choice of shower heads! The kids loved the pancakes at breakfast and fresh lemon juice and despite the location, the rooms were quiet.

stayed at the hotel after long distance flight
Staff was very friendly and eager to help.
room was extremely clean and well kept.
modern furniture and equipment, as well as good bathroom.
Very good wi-fi connection as well as computerin the room.
No windows to the room but as far as i'm concerned this was an advantage since no noise was heard in the room, and not being able to to tell if it was night or day helped overcome jet-lag faster.

Great location as well - very central and close to major interest points.
If I come back to Hanoi, am sure to re-book
