“Tine rooms for Sofitel”
Reviewed 23 January 2013

It is a nice hotel for HaNoi, however comparing with other Sofitels, especially in SE Asia it is somewhat lower grade. Rooms are tiny (and we stayed in club room), beds are tiny, club lounge is the simplest we've seen so far. The staff is Ok. Since we only been there in late eve haven't used any other facilities, so can't comment. It is near west lake (walking distance).

Dear Guest,
Bonjour

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. I very much appreciate your comments, especially the comment regarding our Club Lounge which I will definitely share with our team to see how we could increase its diversity and decoration.

It was a pity that you were unable to enjoy the other facilities this time such as our heated pool and the roof-top bar which are favored by many of our guests. However, we do hope that we will have an opportunity of welcoming you back to experience a more memorable stay in the near future.

Sincerely,
Antoine M. Lhuguenot

Front desk at receptionist, by the name of Ngoc thanh.
He is very polite, responsible, respectful, helpful and very curtious in his job. He helped me a lot by providing me with good information, on streets guide at Hanoi, and the best place to dine at here too. He gave enough sufficient information on all enquiry I have asked him. Thus, he is endeared and trustable.
Therefore, I am happy staying here, even though its only my first time in this business trip.
Others stuff like, Hoang Anh dang, he is cheerful too.
I rate this hotel a very good hotel to be able to live in without any complaints.

This place was visited on our final day in Vietnam and was handy by taxi to all the sites . A beautiful upgrade for about $60 extra for the both of us with already only paying $90 All Australian dollars quoted . The upgrade saw us enjoy the delights of the executive lounge. well worth it with a full buffet breakfast , morning and afternoon tea laid on and a wonderful array of any alcohol , and appetisers to delight ,including oysters , prawns and beautifully prepared tiny glasses of food of all types.
The dinner for us was the highlight .After spending a gift voucher ( from my le club points ) to pay for not only our $32 meal for two , and a very very expensive but half price bottle of red and a crew of beers . Our total cost was about $16. Out of our own pockets.. We were a tad embarrassed when half lobsters arrived as we did not order them . Were informed that they were part of the buffet.. Mmm it gets better.. Self chosen meats of all variety including cutlets, sausages, steaks , chops and then the same with every sort of seafood were cooked , fried or grilled to your liking in front of you. Every imaginable delight in a buffet was available and the desserts were just brilliant . Well prepared and clean and refrigerated and beautiful. Highly highly recommended .
Because we paid the extra , we were also upgraded to a high floor .270degree view over an extremely busy Hanoi which was a great way to view the city . $7 to visit the museums and then a few dollars to come back by rickshaw ,however I paid a huge tip , because of the hard work he had to do to cart me. My tip is join advantage plus .mention my name Leanne McKay and I will receive a bottle of wine . But join for yourself if you travel ...

Room Tip: Definitely go the club rooms , executive upgrade. It is so worth it and inclusive of all food and tw...

Stayed here for business for one night. As you would expect from a Sofitel property, the service was superb. Great rooms, modern, clean and with all the accessories you need and expect in a 5 star property. The checkin was very friendly and fortunately the team spoke good english as my Vietnamese is sub optimal.
Great chinese restaurant 'Ming'. Morning breakfast was more than sufficient.
We used the Business Centre for an interview and is is well equipped with AV and flat screen.
Smoking rooms are still available and widely used, so if you do not smoke, be sure to request a non-smoking floor. Smoking is allowed in the main foyer.
Great views of the lake and city, request a room with a lake view if possible. Free Wifi is good and available in the rooms.
All up a hotel I would recommend.

Room Tip: Room with a view.

I booked a normal luxury room with access to "The Club Sofitel Lounge" at 17th floor. For the Lounge I payed 40€ more each day. The room has been small. I was alone in a double room and I guess with two people it could become narrow.
The hotel all in all looks nice. The food is acceptable but that is not enough for 5 stars from taste. One time I ordered something at the lounge-breakfast and gav e it back, because it has been charred. Optical the food looks very nice but it lives not up to it's promise. The best on the club lounge is , that you can mix your own cocktails and have free softdrinks, beer and wine as long as it is opened. At evening you also can have some appetizers.
You have a nice view from the summit-bar at 19th floor. The cocktails tasted good.
The best on the hotel is the service and the staff. Very nice people, constant efforted to be friendly and helpful.
The hotel is to far from the old quarter and center.

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay at the Sofitel Plaza Hanoi. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed the evening cocktails in our Club Sofitel and the service from our team was up to your expectations.

However, I was very concerned about your comment regarding the food. Please rest assured that our Executive Chef is personally looking into this matter to ensure such mishap will not reoccur in the future.

We are looking forward to the opportunity of welcoming you back to enjoy a more memorable experience on your next visit to Hanoi.

During our visit, this hotel was undergoing 'urgent construction' work. There were noises until 6:00pm on weekdays which were very very annoying. During our 2 days stay, we spent most of the time out of the hotel as it wasn't really a relaxed place. The first room we had was smelling of chemicals. When complained, they put a air cleaner in the room which created sonic noise which could drive anybody insane. Upon complaining again, our room was changed but that one was an old room however it was much more healthier. Our friend also had the problem of chemical smell so it seemed that there was an issue on the floor itself - may be due to the construction.

The location of this hotel is pretty good. Short ride from old quarters and walking distance to some local attractions and few good places to eat. Staff was very helpful in suggesting us things to do and giving directions. Breakfast layout was average. With so many other properties available in the hood, I will not chose this hotel again.
