This hotel is in a good location in Hanoi and has very helpful staff. Its close to major tourist attractions which means its easy to walk to may local destinations. We have stayed there on a number of occassions, and will be back.

Stayed here long term and it became an emotional attachment. We opted for the executive lounge access, simply because after a day at work, to pop upstairs and guzzle some argentinian red and sample the foody bits on offer is easier than making the effort to actually find a restaurant outside. the foody bits were on the whole great, salads, rolls, spicy chicken. Sometimes the lounge was packed out with no tables available, and at other times we were one of the only residents. The general manager makes a regular visit, which is also nice touch. We were lucky enough to stay in suite rooms at every visit, these are found on the corners of the building, mostly quiet except when it rains. Typical Hilton amenities in the room, 2 flat screen TV's, super king bed, 2 toilets, separate shower, lounge and desk..
In summary, great location in the city for both business and tourism, nice lounge food options, good staff, a home from home.
We also sampled the restaurant downstairs on the M floor, reviewed separately

Room Tip: corner rooms 'x01' are the suits

The location of this hotel is its greatest asset! It affords a vantage point to walk to almost anywhere in the city centre!
If you make allowances for the fact that it is an old property with a great history to support it, accommodating small missing conveniences such as internet in the rooms is acceptable.
The rooms & common areas are cozy & friendly & the staff is friendly & very helpful!

Room Tip: Definitely request a room overlooking the opera house!

The Hilton Hanoi Opera is a pretty good hotel, nothing out of the ordinary about it. One positive is that it is well-known so you just tell a cab drive to take you to the Hilton and they know where to go for the most part.

It's also a central location for any tour trips you sign up for so usually the Hilton or the Opera House next door is the pickup and drop off location, making it convenient. You also have a lot of great amenities nearby including a fancy shopping mall if you're into that sort of thing. The lake with the turtle tower pagoda is also within a 10 min walk and a great place to hang out. There's a number of museums within short walking distance to the hotel as well. Everything is within a 10 minute cab ride for most major attractions.

The service was excellent. We were upgraded to an executive room on the executive floor as a Diamond member with full access to the executive lounge. The breakfast buffet downstairs was great with a HUGE variety of western and local Vietnamese dishes. The breakfast in the exec lounge was quite nice also, on par with most Hiltons I've seen globally. The staff are very friendly.

The ONLY downside to our stay was the weird smell in our room. It's obvious they were using some type of chemical to try and mask what I can only imagine as a worse smell than the chemical. It took us a bit of time to get used to the smell of the chemical/cleaner or whatever it was. Hopefully it wasn't hazardous to our health.

On my wife's birthday, they set up a special happy birthday surprise cake in our room which was a very nice and thoughtful touch.

I'd say the Hilton Hanoi Opera is a 3.5 rounded up to a 4.

I stayed here for a week and had a club room, which included access to the club lounge. I had just stayed at the Intercontinental in Ho Chi Minh City the week before and the contrast between these two hotels is striking. While they both charged the same fee for a club room, the Hanoi Hilton did not come close to being as good a hotel.

My club room on the 7th floor had a musty smell and I believe aggravated a sinus problem caused by the pollution in Hanoi. The bed was hard. Housekeeping leaves only 2 bottle of water, but are happy to bring more if asked. There were only two small drawers for clothes and other items - I really wished there had been a proper dresser. The room was quiet but had a so-so view. Housekeeping forgot to replenish some of the toiletry items I used. The shower stall if pretty small.

The club lounge had average food and a so-so breakfast. The service was awful. One morning I had to ask three times for a cup of coffee.

The hotel is nicely located and only a 10 minute walk from the Old Quarter. However, if I'm in Hanoi again for work, I'm staying at the Metropole.

Stayed on the executive floor. The room was clean and spacious and very comfortable. The executive lounge was also very comfortable. There was high tea and cocktail. The foid provided was of good variety and twice we did not even bother to go out for dinner. Breakfast was also of five star hotel standard.
The location was also convenient, just a short walk to old quarter and fives minutes by taxi to alk the fine restaurants.
