Have stayed here twice in two years and both stays were great. Staff service is fantastic. The location is brilliant and I recommend getting up early and walking around the lake. Twice purchased the hotel car to and from airport and also to the local pottery town. Staff booked a night at the Opera via email from Australia and completed the request perfectly. One of my most enjoyable stays anywhere in the world.

Priced consistent with North American pricing and amenities. I certainly hope they pay their staff accordingly. If you want to be down town, close to the lake and the "old quarter", you'll like this hotel & location. We missed it, but were told by people we met in Halong Bay, the night market in the old quarter is quite entertaining. All in all, we enjoyed Hanoi (partly due to this hotel) and the people.

all i can say is perfection---the rooms--huge with great amenities, huge bathroom with tub and seperate shower, fitness facility is amazing with a very warm comfy pool in a gorgeous patio area--you barely know you are in a city. the staff is fantastic and with us being there for christmas it was decorated beautifully.
a very class place. they also had a live quartet each night on one floor and a live piano player on another.
and like everywhere we were in vietnam, the staff was amazing.

We stayed in the Hilton Opera for 4 days. I would defo recommend this hotel in the French quarter, if like us you spend all day out and about walking everywhere its nice to come back to a clean cool haven, decor was really restfull and seating comfortable. The room size was very generous , bathroom was masive really clean & bright.
The staff were attentive and polite , nothing was too much trouble.
Whilst we were there the queen of Denmark arrived for an offical visit so security was stepped up but it did not bother us.

FYI We went on a day trip to Halong Bay , booked through Sinacafe although a very long day it was well worth it. I feel a day long visit is enough, many other posts suggest staying overnight on a junk I am sure this would be a good experience for those of you who have never stayed on a boat before , but not really neccessary.
Ho Chi Minh Mausoulem was closed due to maintenience on the old guy, but still worth a trip to see the building surrounding,.
The Water puppets were enchanting, and really well done. I loved the activity which goes on around Ho Cheim Lake its really theatre, you need to spend some time strolling around it.
Overall a fantastic place

Thank you very much for taking the time to review our hotel following your recent stay here. It is always lovely to receive such positive feedback and rest assured that your comments will be shared also with the team here. Hanoi and the Old Quarter definitely have a lot to offer to visiting tourists and I agree that a stroll around Hoan Kiem Lake is a must for your visit to the city.

We stayed here for four nights during our north to south trek through Vietnam. I am Diamond with Hilton and had the luxury of the Diamond Lounge, free breakfast; free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Excellent hotel—Overall. Although, while they said I got upgraded, the room was small. Other FYIs: The location is OK and transportation is available. This is the one destination I have been where it is cheaper to use cabs at the hotel. Only $2 to get downtown. However, once downtown in the Old Quarter, it is $10 USD for a cab to get back. The best alternative is to carry a hotel business card and show it to a cyclo driver. It will cost you about $3. The challenges with the cabs are the drivers do not speak English, they know you are a tourist who doesn’t know his/her way around so they drive you all over. It is a scam but I (and I consider myself a savvy traveler) could not find a workaround other than the cyclo. Cyclo drivers want to get you to your destination as fast as possible. It takes longer than a cab but you get bragging rights on negotiating $3 for a cool bike ride back to your hotel and knowing that you did support the cab scam. Lastly, we took an airport cab from Hanoi airport. The ride was 45 minutes and cost about $18 USD.
FYI. We did a day trip to Ha Long Bay through handspan. You only need a day trip. We left at 8 AM and returned to the hotel at 7:30 PM. $78/pp. This was more than enough time. Everyone tells you that you need to do an overnight or 2 nights and 3 days, but the most popular trip is the day trip. Go Figure?

Thank you very much for taking the time to provide a detailed account of your experiences whilst in Hanoi and we are pleased that you enjoyed the complimentary upgrade to the Executive Floor as a Hilton Hhonors Diamond member. With regards to travel throughout the city we do reccommend that guests use only reputable taxis and the hotel will provide a taxi card with a contact number to assist in locating the taxi's in town upon request at the Front Desk. Having said that, the cyclo rides are also a cultural experience in themselves and can also be part of a fun filled day in the city.
