“Good location, good hotel”
Reviewed 14 November 2013 via mobile

We stayed 3 nights at the Nikko during our recent visit to Hanoi.
The hotel is centrally located within walking distance to the French Quarter. The old quarter is 3km away, 5 min by taxi (between 3-6 usd) but we also we went there on foot and it was very doable.
The rooms are very bright, clean and we'll appointed. The bathroom is large but it didn't have a separate shower, just a bath tub with shower.
Service was very good and attentive. The breakfast has a large extension of Japanese food, but lacks on western dishes. Overall a very good experience and will repeat if coming back to Hanoi.
Note: the exchange rate of USD at the hotel is almost on par with the published rate by the Vietnamese central bank and much better than at the airport

After we booked the hotel, my friend registered as a member of the Nikko hotel club. We got upgrade to executive floor and had access to executive lounge. We had free drinks (beer, soft drinks, tea & coffee etc.) and some buffet nearly all day. Very quiet at the lounge as not many people there. All the staff there were very nice and helpful. The quality of the food at breakfast was not as good as similar hotel in other countries. However, there were a lot of choices at the buffet breakfast and the Vietnamese noodle in soup was excellent.

I stayed in Nikko Hanoi during a business trip, it was not bad indeed. The hotel was quiet and neat although the lobby is a bit small. Food was not bad, I guess the hotel mainly accompany Japanese guests which is why the taste is a bit bland. Rooms was decorated old style, the hotel has all necessary facilities however, lack of an entertainments. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
Pros:-
- Neat and tidy
- Comfort
Cons:-
- Food a bit bland
- Lack of entertainment

Room Tip: High floors

We really enjoyed the Nikko Hanoi Hotel. It was the first hotel we hit in Vietnam and it was a great start! The rooms are large, modern, comfortable and the bathroom facilities excellent. The breakfast was excellent and it helped us start the days. Free good WIFI is a plus as it enabled us to keep in contact with the family. There is an exchange counter at the hotel which is great to get Vietnamese Dongs so we can start shopping and spending. I was able to buy a SIM card at a shop across the street and thus complete my communication needs.

We did not use the pool and spa facilities but we heard they were great. Hotel is close to the heart of town and there are multiple small local restaurants nearby making for a more local experience.

No hesitation in recommending this great hotel and it will be high on my list next time I am in Hanoi.

I love the spacious rooms and the breakfast in this hotel. It is also one of the few hotels in Hanoi with a pool, full gym, and sauna. The service is great! Sometimes the hotel is lacking in local charm but that is to be expected with a business hotel. Overall a good hotel for business travelers!

The hotel is centrally located in Hanoi, good access to most places. Check-in and departure was handled with efficiency you expect from a Japanese chain hotel. I was waiting for lost luggage and the staff as efficient enough to asked if they could wake me if the luggage was delivered late. The hotel just celebrated 15 years in service so some of the amenity and rooms were showing it age. still reasonably clean and nice, but could do with a facelift given other choices throughout the city. Breakfast was disappointing, not enough choices and given Vietnam is well known for coffee, the coffee served was very poor. The room is well sound proof, a good aspect for a city that does not sleep and lots of outside noises. The spa services was very good, the masseuse was well trained and really worked some of the knots out of my tired muscles.

Not a bad business hotel
