“good hotel”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

I stayed for 2 nights in the executive floor and the best things here I can say is the Executive Lounge in the 5th floor. The service is excellent and the staff is great. The Gym and Dim Sum here is good too.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights in mid November 2013.

Reviews that I have read on this website suggested that this is a "girl friendly" hotel. I guess the reason could be the Boss KTV that was located in the basement. In the KTV, scantily clad women were always ready with a "Welcome Boss!" greeting. It doesn't bother me a single bit.

The façade of the hotel makes it stand out from its surrounding buildings. It facilities includes swimming pool (which I didn't use because of the cold weather) & a very well equipped gym on the 5th floor. Having a stable of at least 10 running machines, the gym is the definitely rank amongst the top hotel gyms that I have been to this year. There was even a fitness specialist on duty to guide the guests along. Impressive!

I was given a free upgrade to a room on the capital floor because the room was booked under corporate rate. The room came with complimentary fruit & snacks, which were topped up daily, The room was big in size, the bed was super comfortable. For my bathroom, it came with a attached Jacuzzi which I didn't really use.

The hotel provided a decent spread of food on the 5th floor. You can order dishes that are not displayed (like eggs, noodles) from a menu.

Overall, this is one of the best hotels that I have been to in 2013. I would recommend this hotel to travellers in Hanoi.

2 Thumbs up!

Stayed here for a clients conference for 4 days and 3 nights, i admit i was a bit nervous because i am used to staying in chain hotel and never heard of this hotel before.

I got in a bit late at night due to flight delay, but even at 11.50PM the restaurant is still open and serve good dinner for me..

The location was about 40 minutes from hanoi airport, it's convenient enough for me because i can walk around and o a bit of sightseeing in the evening.

Room was okay and clean, on the second day i found many bugs like little ants in the bedsheets and had to clean the bedsheets again.. The sink drainage got clogged in the third day but i didnt complaint since im leaving the next day anyway. My room has jacuzzi so it's fun..

The club have other interesting facilities for the male traveler, it has casino, boss ktv in the basement and spa de palace on the 17th floor. For those who are into that kind of stuff might find it interesting.

Room Tip: Take the studio king with added jacuzzi in the room...

Overall our 5 night stay here was fine and I'd probably stay again for a short time. We didn't really have any problems, the place was clean, it was easy to find a cash point/taxi/restaurant. But nothing was particularly special. Hanoi is pretty cheap cost of living so I think this place is probably not much bang for your buck compared to some other places.

Pros:
- Free bar from 5-7pm every night if you are on a capital floor was a good touch and we actually ate snacks here a few times to tide us over before or after dinner.
- The room was clean and comfortable.
- The shower pressure and temperature were very good.
- The bed was very comfortable.

Cons:
- The Wifi was TERRIBLE. Do not expect to even be able to load simple pages between 5pm and 9am. I seriously recommend the hotel do something to improve this and this is my only real complaint about the place.
- The place is full of obnoxious businessmen talking too loudly in the lobby about how important they are. Particularly the capital lounge, there were often people having meetings in there and talking far louder than required.
- The website advertises one free suit pressing per stay yet when we asked about this they had no knowledge of it.
- Others have said they liked the pool but to me it seemed very uninviting. One side is clear so all the loud businessmen in the lounge opposite can gawk at you.
- The traffic noise was very audible from the room, even 14 floors up. This is on a busy road so it's to be expected, but I don't think it was double glazed and there were some gaps around the window fitting which probably didn't help.
- The food, particularly breakfast, were quite uninspiring. There is no coffee at the buffet breakfast so you need to get waiter attention (difficult) each time you need a refill.
- This was about 20 minutes in a taxi (around 80-100k dong) from the city. We walked around the hotel a bit but there wasn't much of note.
- The gym was a bit worn out and some things falling apart.

Looking above it seems like a long list but it wasn't really that bad (other than the wifi) I just wanted to point out the things I thought could/should be improved.

Room Tip: We had 'executive deluxe room'. Note the smoking and non smoking floors. Top 4 floors (13-16...

As mostly of Chinese Singapore big hotel running company wide areas are dedicated to (men) entertainment.
In this case there is a Casino on the ground floor (Fortuna Club) and a KTV (Boss) in the basement. Girls go back and forth from the lower floors rooms until the closing hour around 1:00 a,m,
Check it out the bathroom amenities: mines were half used.
The reception staff, expecially the female on night duty are really rude and don't give any kind of information.
Considering also the location ... many many other better choices in the city!

We had a trip to Vietnam to explore new country. Actually it is below our expectation.
For this hotel the location is OK. It 's close to city centre. The Decoration is kind of old fashion.
There are two restuarants for breakfast. The lower floor one is better.

We organized a meeting at Fortuna Hotel, on the recommendation of a meeting organizer. I would definitey not return if I have the choice. Almost everyone had long waits to check in, even though the hotel knew our schedules well in advance. Front desk staff were not particularly friendly.

Rooms and hotel facilities are generally functional, but rather old and not particularly attractive. Cleanliness average. The first day I was there, my waste bin was not cleaned of garbage. Beds are basic. Bathroom small and without nice amenities. Towels were very nice though. Wifi was reliable and pretty fast. TV was OK and with reasonable channel options.

They apparently have two levels of breakfast quality. The first morning, I went to the ground floor and was told I couldn't eat there. Apparently, our group was relegated to the second floor breakfast arrangements, which I must say were quite pitiful. Not many choices and not very good quality or taste. In any case, it leaves a very negative impression on customers to be segregated into "first quality" and "second quality" breakfast provisions.

Prices in the hotel restaurants are a bit steep for the quality and there is almost nothing of interest nearby this hotel in the way of restaurants, pubs or shops, so people are pretty much hostage to the hotel price structure.

There is a tiny "casino" for foreigners on the ground floor and a notorious karaoke pub in the basement. The worst of everything about such places, including sky-high prices for drinks, aggressive staff, and a literal parading of pretties in front of leud clients who sit and mull over their "choices" of ladies to keep them company. I half expected some of the lecherous and arrogant old (and young) men to check the teeth of the women on parade to verify their credentials. It seems the hotel probably makes more from this money-churner than from the more legitimate business upstairs.

All in all, the hotel is very average and the "extras" are mostly negative.

Room Tip: Street-facing rooms at lower levels are quite noisy; ask for room facing the back or at higher-level...
