This Hotel is a plot of cleanliness in a dirty country. The room 101 is large around 45msq with a master bed room and 2 singles bed where we have slept 2 adults and 3 kids 9, 6 and 3 y.o.. The room was clean and the beds comfortable, even cosy, we have much appreciated after a journey of traveling. The restaurant is good and at regular price (60 USD for a diner for 4 adults and 5 kids from 16 to 3 y.o. but the service has been far too long. I recommend this hotel to all families traveling to Hanoi as it is at a walking distance from the famous red bridge and the lake.

Room Tip: the room 111

I rate this a solid 3*** hotel which provides a relaxing atmosphere in the busy city, mostly friendly staff and the required necessities we take for granted, that were found missing in 2 of the 5 hotels we stayed at for our Vietnam trip. A computer was available, the restaurant offered us tea in the afternoon when we needed to sit for a bit in the afternoon, which is nicer than sitting in the lobby or bedroom. We enjoyed the breakfast especially the fresh fruit, pho and 'jook' (savory rice porridge with condiments). The staff even peeled and sliced the mango we brought in from the fruit basket in the bedroom since the knife provided was not sharp enough to use. The restaurant in the hotel seems very popular and was noisy when we passed by, but we didn't hear any of the sounds in the bedrooms. There was also a Citibank ATM directly across the street from the hotel.

We arrived early from the overnight train but they were able to give us one of our two rooms, and we had the second before lunch. The restaurant was good for lunch and dinner (spring rolls are excellent, as was the seafood). Breakfast was less good--there was much confusion over eggs, and the buffet display was a bit limited. Coffee cups were way too small!.
Rooms were quite nicely appointed, and the staff was nice. Views were limited, but it is a big city. Good location.
If going down the stairs, be very careful as a couple of steps are the wrong size!

Room Tip: If views are important, then ask for a room at the front.

We've stayed at the De Syloia many times, they always remember us, and welcome us like we are returning home. They are in a quiet location, but close to good restaurants, museums, shopping, etc. We find the rooms to be very comfortable, great beds...

The in house restaurant is excellent.

The staff, all the way from manager to desk clerks and doormen, are very pleasant while giving great service.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good

I have used this hotel on many occasions over the past 10+ years and many of the staff remain since my first visit back in April 2001. The rooms are now in a good 4 star rated bracket and the hotel is still competitively priced. Breakfast are much improved for western tastes and although not my cup of tea, they have traditional vietnamese cuisine at dinner with traditional music.

The De Syloia has become my botique hotel of choice when in Hanoi - normally on business. The staff has gotten to know me and makes me feel like I am coming home. They have a conference room that you may have to reserve but provides a professional envirnoment in which to have meetings and conduct business. Wi Fi throughout the hotel provides adequate speed for most business applications. The restauraunt is excellent value and very popular with local Vietnamese.

Room Tip: Deluxe Suits are only slightly higher than the standard room and provides a separte seating area. V...

Stayed here for two weeks. Fantastic location. Could if necessary walk to centre but not in the heat. Staff were fantastic very helpful. Explained about best taxis to get to ensure we did not get ripped off. Cleaners very friendly and could not do enough for us. Breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the day. Very safe at front of hotel as embassies and lot of security. STreet at back of hotel was a little dodgy but found we could walk to some local restaurants easily in the evening. People were very friendly even on the street. Navigating the traffic was interesting to say the least but after a few days it was great and navigating almost as good as the locals. Would definately stay again. Very reasonable in price and currency exchange was great. Bank next door and they matched their price.

Room Tip: We had a room at the back of the hotel so no traffic noise
