The hotel was a standard hotel. Nothing spectacular stands out about the hotel. I guess I could say they provided a free buffet breakfast, and they were within walking distance to all the "Old Quarter" sites. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly, restaurant had good food. It was a little pricy in my opinion ($90/night with all taxes), but not outrageous for the location.

It was difficult for me to choose a hotel in the old quarter with so many mixed reviews, my dislike of small rooms and tiny hotels, so i choose to stay again. We stayed for 3 nights booked through the hotel website using email and paid the account when we checked out. In 5 years nothing has changed. The service is formal and reserved. The hotel is a good size with a lift. We had booked a superior room and found it very small. The next night were moved to the suite, it was perfect. Exactly the same room we had 5 years ago. It has a lounge area and large bathroom with bath and shower. I like the location it is at the start of the old quarter and you walk in towards the lake. It takes 10 minutes. We arrived just before TET, the streets were crowded, as soon as you walked out of the hotel you walked with a throng of people day and night. The surrounding streets near the hotel were filled with flower sellers. The hotel's breakfast is basic and adequate, they cook your eggs in the kitchen and serve to your table. They have 3 computers in the foyer, they are not expensive to use.

Staff just OK. Restaurant attached not very good, Location good. We walked to Hoan Kiem Lake and saw the Water Puppet Show. Great music and singing, the water puppets OK. Buy the book for $4 so you'll understand what's going on. Good shops around the theater. Best restaurant nearby called Hanoi Restaurant. Excellent service and food. Ate there twice.

We stayed at the Galaxy for 6 nights, we found the service from all staff great, reception spoke good english and were very helpfull with places to visit, eat and shop. The room was always cleaned promptly and well done and anything extra like pillows and blankets, room service were delivered quickly. It is located just on the end of the old quarter which is a good place to navigate from, close to street stalls, markets and tourist spots and within walking distance of Hoan Kiem lake..... it was the ideal place for us !! We would be happy to stay there in the future .
