In case you're in the region I will have time to visit. It does not take time that is much to visit and is fascinating. For Americans, it's most recognized for its popular prisoner John McCain. It's in addition, intriguing since its history surely goes well beyond time of John McCain. It's a really old building surrounded by brand new office towers.

Well worth the visit - gives an insight into the recent past history of Vietnam. Easy to access from the lake area.

Visiting the Hoa Lo Prison allows a better quick knowledge of Vietnam's modern history. The exhibitions also provide an understanding of the Vietnamese's point of view of the chronological events.

My friends and I were all glad we visited this museum. It’s much larger than we had anticipated and is one of the better designed (repurposed?) war museums I’ve been to. It’s very informative and sheds light on both the French occupation of Vietnam and the war that the US was involved in. The entrance fee was only about $1.50 USD and is definitely worth visiting.

To get a glimpse of how women and men were treated and the conditions they lived in , would certainly be a deterrent for many people today to avoid prison in today’s society.
Well worth the visit .
