“Good Centrally Located Hotel”
Reviewed 10 April 2014

This hotel is just at the end of the large central lake in Hanoi, and a short walk to the busy city centre and markets. It is clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and accomodating. This was the last hotel on our trip in Vietnam as we had travelled from the south to the north. Breakfast was served in a similar style to most of the other hotels we had stayed in in Vietnam, with a choice of traditional Vietnam style breakfasts or English/European style breakfast. Would recommend.

We stayed for 4 nights in this hotel, which is situated in the busy city centre just some blocks from the little lake. The hotel was rebuilt about two years ago, which means that everything is very clean and nice. The room was rather large with comfortable beds. The bathroom was of a good standard, so was the breakfast. The personnel was service minded. One drawback could be the noisy traffic.

Room Tip: Try to get a room towards the backyard and on 4th or 5th floor to avoid traffic noise.

Lan Vien hotel was our first stop on our visit to Vietnam. We stayed here two nights with a break to visit Halong Bay. The room we got the first night was good but 1. small 2. the window opened into a shaft with blank wall opposite, the second time we got a corner room huge with windows overlooking the city. The rooms are well furnished with wooden flooring look elegant and nice.

The best part of the stay was the breakfast served in the restaurant on the 11th floor. Do not miss the Vietnamese soup it was excellent as was the rest of the breakfast having ample choice of Asian and Continental cuisine

Room Tip: Take a room on the upper floor and preferable tending in number 17 or 18 as these are corner rooms a...

Rooms are on par with normal 3-3.5 star hotel but the noise never stops. All the beeping and traffic noise goes all through the night. We were staying on the 6th floor. Also noise from corridor/other rooms was crystal clear.

A pretty good value for money Hotel. Rooms are large, Bathrooms good except from the Bath Tub design, which leads the water out on the floor and avoidable.

The Restaurant is limited, but at least reasonable and leaves no Glorious memories but that the stomach can be filled ;-)

Service perfect, Location very good and cleanliness good. Rooms can be noisy by traffic that pass by the Hotel by very close distance.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the Road

The rooms were clean and huge. The complaints were, the aircon was automatically turned to heater mode and not adjustable. When we rang the receptionist, she said that it was winter and its on heater mode throughout. She advised us to open the windows which made the traffic noise even louder as the hotel was situated at the traffic junction. The ' honking' from the traffic went on nearly 24/7 which made it impossible to have a decent sleep. Either you sleep in a stuffy room or you'll hear the traffic. I had the executive suite on the third floor. Not recommended. The Wifi was mostly down and we found guests milling around the corridors where the Wifi reception was remotely better. The bath/ tub leaked to the floors after every shower due to the poor design of the glass panels.

Room Tip: Higher floors and away from the traffic highly recommended.

Stayed a few days in December. My first satisfaction was that the staff was quite fluent in English, apart from being very polite and helpful. They can liaise with local tour operators or arrange for transport. The hotel is well located in terms of shops and restaurants. Rooms very functional and kept clean, beds are comfortable.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter for rooms giving on the road.
