I am reviewing this hotel almost 10 months after staying there, now that the dust has settled, and I have stopped dealing with my credit card company. I stayed here with my husband on our honeymoon in January 2013. At the end of our 3 night stay, we were "accidentally charged" in American dollars rather than Vietnamese Dong. The guy at reception tried to make it into a big joke, but we were actually charged close to $1500 US. He told us that he couldn't reverse the charge that night; he couldn't reach the bank, but he assured us that it would all be cleared up by the morning. In the morning, he gave us a credit card slip that reversed the U.S. transaction and recharged us for the correct amount in Vietnamese Dong. We thought nothing of it, as it seemed like an honest mistake. We looked at our credit card bill for a couple of months and saw nothing out of the ordinary.
Clearly it was not a mistake. About 5 months later, the $1500 was submitted to the credit card company. We told the credit card company what had happened, and they reversed the charge while investigating. Keep in mind that we were paying about $22 per night, so a $1500 bill was exorbitant. The credit card company came back to us and told us that the hotel admitted that we had been charged in Dong for our room, but the $1500 USD was for something else and had never been cancelled and was never supposed to be (what that $1500 thing was, they did not divulge). We spent MONTHS disputing this charge, and they blatantly lied to the credit card company, arguing it was a legitimate charge. Our credit card company said that unless we could produce the slip showing that the close to $1500 was reversed at the time, we were on the hook. Unbelievably, we found the slip from all those months earlier showing the USD charge had been cancelled. If not, we would now be out $1500. Nonetheless, it took months of back and forth with our credit card company to get this cleared up. DO NOT STAY at this hotel, but if you do, examine your credit card receipts very, very carefully and keep the copies for at least a year.
