This hotel was recommended by a friend and as usual looked up the reviews on trip advisor. I don't think I ever stayed in a place before that was so friendly and helpful. Our room was at the back and it was very quiet and comfortable. We needed that since we were there for 5 nights. It was a short walk to the lake so was very central. You do need a good sense of direction because at night all the streets seem to look the same. I highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed. The day we checked out we were talking with some ladies who said they did a walking tour with a university student. Guess it gives the student chance to practice their english. I think that might be interesting. Guess it has to be booked in advance. Thank you again to all the staff who made our stay memorable.

Overall this hotel lives up to all the great reviews. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to ensure your stay is enjoyable. The rooms vary in size, two of the rooms we stayed in were quite small but this isnt a problem unless you plan on speanding your time in Hanoi hanging out in the hotel room. The rooms are clean and neat. The laptop supplied in the room is also a great added extra.
Breakfast is fantastic with a good selection of options that are made to order as well as the continental style buffet breakfast.
Located in a quiet street, which is a rare thing in the old quarter, the hotel is quiet and there is no problem gettign a good sleep even if the hussle and bussle of Hanoistarts before you get up.

I think this hotel is only classed as a 3star but that does not do it justice. Although the rooms are compact, the bed and shower are both incredible and the use of space makes you feel like a king. But, what really makes this hotel I the service. I have stayed at five star hotels throughout Asia on this same trip and the people were awful to deal with and treat you like a second class citizen just because you're travelling with a backpack. The art trendy staff are attentive, kind, bend over backwards for you and is actually he nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. The breakfast is incredible and it's proximity to the happenings of hoian is great! Loved every minute.

This Hotel is set in the middle of the old quarter, which is an experience in itself. The Hotel is beautifully decorated and maintained, although a reasonably small one. The staff are positively sensational. Nothing is too much trouble. Sarah, Kathy, and the delightful trainee Dieu, along with the rest of the staff, made our stay a delight, and all front of office staff speak very good English, which is such a bonus. The breakfast menu is varied, mostly western, the food cooked well, and the dining area spotless. The rooms are very tastefully decorated, and although on the small side, are very comfortable. Given that we were out and about most times, we were really only using the rooms to get much needed sleep.

If you are an active traveller, this is the place to stay. Would go back in a flash.

We stayed in Art Trendy for 2 weeks in April with a short gap in between when we had 2 nights in Halong Bay.
Without question it is the friendliest and most helpful hotel I have stayed in in my extensive travels around SE Asia over the last decade plus. The management greet you with a smile and by name from the moment you arrive until it is sadly time to leave. They do go out of their way to ensure you have a most pleasant and memorable stay. Need a taxi? They will go out and flag one and escort you to the taxi and tell the driver where you want to go and give you an idea of how much it will be. Need a sim card? Take you to the shop next door and help you buy one. Need to know where the nearest ATM is? The boy was sent with us when we first arrived to show us where it was (just 2 minutes round the corner!). If you want ideas what to do or where to go they will give impartial advice and book trips or tickets for you.
Because we based ourselves in Hanoi and probably had a longer stay than most we managed to secure a reasonable discount and I think they would offer this to most guests if staying more than a few nights and booking direct via website/phone/email which was very easy to do. Doing it this way should also secure you a complimentary pick up from the airport if staying more than 2 or 3 nights (check with hotel management) This is highly recommended due to possible airport taxi scams.
Our room was top floor (6th), was spacious and had no noise issues at all. The lift goes to the 5th floor and then a few steps to the top. Staff are always on hand to assist with luggage should you require it.
The room was well cleaned and refreshed daily and replenished with tea/coffee/water including complimentary fruits.
Our room contained a laptop with reasonably fast connection, small fridge, mini safe, telephone, door alarm (if you didnt shut it securely), alarm clock, aircon, flat screen TV, laundry bag. The bed was medium firm in my opinion and I always had a good nights sleep!
The shower and toilet was spotless and was in pristine condition. The shower cubicle was large and the shower head had various settings including what I would describe as 'downpour' and was as hot as you could want it.
Breakfast is included and is available quite early on from 6.30am to 10.00am or 11 am weekends. There was always more than enough to eat inc delicious fresh baguettes, yoghurt, cereal, fresh fruits (loved the passion fruit) tea, coffee etc etc. If that wasnt enough then you can in addition choose a cooked breakfast of eggs, bacon cooked any way you wish plus omlettes, pancakes and not forgetting pho noodles with beef, chicken or vegetarian!!
The location of the hotel is in the old quarter which is, I guess, where most tourists stay. It is possible to walk most places of interest there which is good or bad depending on how you view fighting for space with the motorcyclists. Their main priority is not to dent their bike so you are fairly safe when crossing the road if you take one step at a time and take a deep breath. My recommendation would be to advise reception where you intend to go and they will advise going by foot or if a taxi is better.
Whilst writing I would recommend asking the hotel to book you tickets for the Water Puppet Theatre, Ca Tru traditional Vietnamese music concert (limited seating so book in advance) and of course Halong Bay. We were so glad we booked 2 nights with Oriental Sails - great guys and a fantastic trip. Another recommended whole day out is to the Perfume Pagoda which includes a river trip (open boat so use sunscreen/hat).
The hotel provides a map with recommended eating places on reverse and places we would recommend are the New Day restaurant (same street as the Ca Tru theatre) - fast and furious, try the buffet which is best value. KOTO - training school and restaurant for disadvantaged kids which is located alongside The Temple of Literature. Another good restaurant with great food at reasonable prices, with a rooftop dining area, is The Rising Dragon Estate hotel in Nguyen Van To street. Actually I think it was in their sister hotel around the corner but they will direct you).
So a big thank you to Sarah and all her staff for making us feel so welcome and comfortable during our stay in your hotel.

This is a small, charming hotel located in a good location in the Old Quarter. The hotel was clean and the rooms had a small fridge and some complimentary fresh fruit was placed in the room daily. There was a nice breakfast provided with fresh fruit, juice, bread, etc, as well as a menu for the customer to select a hot meal entree. The thing that really makes this hotel special is the friendly staff. They were very helpful all the way from check-in to check-out. They helped with sight-seeing options and anything else we needed, all while doing it with a smile. I would definitely look forward to staying there again.

Stayed in this hotel for 6 nights and was very impressed with the lovely, quiet rooms with comfortable beds, good wifi (and laptops), great breakfast and wonderful staff. All of the staff were friendly and the reception staff were so nice and attentive that I was sad to say goodbye to them all! The hotel is in a great location in the centre of old town. This hotel was great value and I would definitely recommend it to others. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
