“Warm family homestay in the middle of Old Quarter”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

We stayed here for 3 nights in 3 different rooms. The rooms are rather old but good enough for just staying overnight as we tend to head out to explore Hanoi most of the day. It can get a little noisy as it's just within the hustle bustle of the Old Quarter. But the location is perfect for a short stroll to all the attractions especially areas around Hoan Kiem lake.

Huong, who runs the homestay, is a wonderful host who has kindly and efficiently arranged both our tours to Sapa & Halong bay. We have also joined in their family dinners & breakfasts twice! On the last night of our stay, my husband Joshua fell ill. Huong has kind enough to hop on her motorbike at night to get some pills from the nearby clinic to ease his indigestion.

It's been a privilege to be able to stay with a family and know that you are looked after in a foreign land. She even gave us gifts to take back to Malaysia!

I stayed here for 3 nights. The family was so generous and friendly and helpful - truly made you feel welcome and at home. They also shared dinner one night - a real treat. The location in the heart of the Old Quarter was also fantastic. The room itself was average - a bit loud, and sometimes felt a bit damp (and Wifi didn't work in the room - but they let me use the family computer in the kitchen as often as I wanted - all part of the 'generous' theme here!!), but you have to remember the price is only 10$ so if you are a traveller on a budget it is a really good deal. You meet a lot of nice other travellers too! I would recommend this place 100% if you're not fussed about fluffy towels and shiny bathrooms, but want a great location, great hosts and great deal. Thanks Huong and family!

We stayed for 3 nights in Feb and we will never forget the warmth, friendliness and generosity of Perfume, the lovely woman who runs this B and B. It is located in the historic old quarter of Hanoi, a fascinating part of town, perfect for walking. It isn't fancy but it is clean and Perfume makes a great breakfast. She was helpful, informative and a perfect host. We also met lots of other current and former guests there from all over the world. Staying there was the highlight of our trip to Vietnam.

Room Tip: Room are all upstairs, one room per floor (4 floors).

My opinion aligns exactly with the other reviews, could not agree more. This place is in the heart of the city - Old Quarter, with food steps away and you will not find a hostel with friendlier hosts. Go check it out!

Do not miss out on staying here!!! By far one of the stand out highlights of my South East Asia trip. It is an authentic homestay so look at the photos and that's what you'll get, but what you really get out of this, is being hosted by Perfume, she genuinely looked after us like we were her own children, every person involved in the homestay are so nice and giving and every traveller we met there was more than pleased. Perfume made our 3day stay in Hanoi the smoothest part of our trip and I came away with the most content and fullest belly possible! Thanks Perfume.

I cannot talk this experience up enough. Perfume was the most friendly, hospitable, generous and kind person I have met in my 2 months in S.E Asia!
Stayed here with my boyfriend and best friend and we all were so happy with our decision. We arrived very late and she managed to still get us a 7am pickup to ha long bay. Gave us her own clothes because we had no warm jackets, made us breakfast everyday and even made us dinner one night that was one of the best meals I've had over here.
She even moved us to anther very nice hotel around the corner for our second night and gave us a gift as we left. This is a must do!!!
Great location too.
Cannot wait to return :)
Thanks again Perfume!!!!!!!!!
