“Fantastic stay in the hectic hanoi”
Reviewed 28 July 2014 via mobile

Wonderful stay! I stayed here with my two young daughters and my friend. We had a clean and comfortable with plenty of space. The location is fantastic within walking distance to many areas of interest and museums. The staff was wonderful. Mrs. Hien was incredible. She works so hard to make sure your stay in Vietnam is the best. She had great suggestions and planned our Halong bay trip and helped with our train tickets and our Bac Ha home stay with Mr. Sa. I trust her completely and feel she really wants to you to have a great experience. This hotel is very accommodating in holding your belongings while going to sapa or Halong bay also for you to hang out while waiting for the night train or getting a taxi to the airport (which mrs. Hien arranged). These small things make such a difference as traveling in Vietnam can still be a frustrating experience at times. Many French love this hotel as it is French vietnamese themed. So if you speak French you will have other travelers to talk to. Mrs. Hien is a real asset to this hotel and works very hard. The owners are VERY lucky to have her. Although I don't know who does own it... When I come back with my husband we will for sure stay here again!!! Thank you Maison D'Orient!!!

We stayed at Mason d'Orient for a total of 5 nights. The hotel is charming and beautifully decorated with clean rooms/bathrooms. The hotel is tucked back in a dead end street so it doesn't get ask much traffic noise. The staff were wonderful and helped us with anything we needed. The breakfast was great with fresh fruit, toast and eggs to order. The coffee was wonderful and some of the best we had on our trip.

During our stay in Hanoi, we took a two day trip to Ninh Binh and then, later, an overnight in Halong Bay. We were able to leave our large bags at the hotel and take smaller bags on those trips. It made our travel much easier. Each time we returned to stay at Mason d'Orient and I'm so glad we had a nice relaxing place to come back to!

For those if us that have done the back packer scene and now want a mite private setting with a five star rating breakfast. Accommodation that doesn't cost the earth, then this it! Like us we really only stayed in the hotel for sleep, cocktails and breakfast. The restaurant was lovely with a fantastic menu with even a more amazing staff. Rooms were clean and well air conditioned. Great location and management and staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. We bought a suitcase on our last day for gifts and forgot to buy a lock and were running late. Management sent staff to buy one for us. Very cool if them. A great place to stay and will only get better with the new future renovations. Highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed at the Maison d'Orient on a weekend trip from Hong Kong and everything about this small hotel is charming - from the efficient airport pick up to the super friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the location great for exploring the old quarters of Hanoi and the attention to detail for such a budget friendly hotel is refreshing, to say the least. We would highly recommend the Maison and will definitely stay again.

This place is perfect if you have the money to splurge on a mid-range accommodation. I love the way they designed the rooms - from the closet made of woven material, to the Vietnamese paintings that decorated my room and even to the bamboo ladder that served as a towel rack! The small lobby also has these gorgeous black and white tiles, while the second floor breakfast nook has floor to ceiling windows that overlook the quiet side street.

The location is also spot on: while it is in a side street, it's still in the heart of everything. You don't hear much of the Hanoise but it is within reach. The cathedral is one block away, while a good choice of food stalls and restaurants are a short walk. The Hoan Kiem is also accessible on foot, as well as a number of Old Quarter streets like Hang Gai.

Hien, the owner of the hotel, is there every morning to greet her guests. She's a very pleasant and thoughtful woman who answered all my pre-trip pesterings through email. When I met her in person, she was all smiles and kind words. On my first morning in Hanoi, she gave me a map and shared with me some tips on how to survive the city. Her staff is warm and welcoming as well, always with a greeting and a smile.

I wouldn't call this a hotel, as it feels more like a B&B, with the personalized, hands-on service and the beautiful interior design. It's definitely the kind of place that makes you feel at home, even if you're miles away from your real home.

I was there for a special occasion with friends and family. Having been in Hanoi for many times, but the stay with Maison was totally different. It was not a fancy hotel with lake view, not a ralatives house, but a cozy, friendly and very Hanoian. The staff was helpful enough to arrange the mini bus for us to visit surrounding places with good travel tips. A trip to remember!

If you want a bite of truly Asia, this place is a must.

Room Tip: Choose front rooms for more space and light.
