All the essentials about some of the ethnic minorities in Vietnam, the re-built houses outside give a good idea of how they look in the villages. The partly opened new building is impressive with some very well presented exhibits. Don't miss the caffee, used for training young people hoping to improve their employability.

Its really good for whom wants to discover Vietnamese people. I had chance to work as a volunteer here for a month. It was a great experiences!. You will see the culture of 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam via their houses, garden, labor tools, costumes etc.

If you visit on weekend, you will have chance to see water puppet show inside museum. Its free.

Normally, there are two big festivals, one is on Mid-Autumn Festival, and others is after
"Tet Holiday". There are many activities in this festival, such as: Vietnamese Folk Games (about 20 games), Vietnamese foods trying, Vietnamese traditional arts (Dong Ho painting, To He, etc.), Vietnamese traditional music (Ca tru), etc.

This museum is a little out of central Hanoi, but it is a modern structure in lovely grounds. The museum is well labelled and takes the visitors through the different ethnic people that make up Vietnam. It shows via photos, demonstrations, exhibits, artifacts and panoramas the life styles of the ethnic Vietnamese from the top to the bottom of Vietnam. It makes one realise how diverse the cultures are in Vietnam - but intermingled from province to province.

There was also a section devoted to children and sex education. It is very explicit and there appeared to be a number of teenagers taking a great deal of time in this section. We were told that this section houses temporary exhibitions and it changes its theme from time to time.

After exiting the museum building, the surrounding parkland has a number of ethic house reconstructions scattered through it. The grounds have a couple of cafe/restaurants to refresh oneself (it was extremely hot on the day we visited), and the always present shop selling arts and crafts. It appears to be a good destination for locals and their children judging by the number of people visiting.
