“Always stay in a small hotel on the east side”
Reviewed 20 November 2012

I enjoy statying at / around East Lake - I find it convenient to the airport, My hotel overlooks the lake and is alongside a water inlet where they farm hyacinth, on a full moon millions of frogs burst into chorus and it is almost impossible to sleep if you have a back room. Nice restaurants on the North East corner - the oyster bar is excellent.

“Really interesting”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

We cycled around part of this lake as part of a half day cycle tour and got a glimpse into the more normal side of Hanoi life than is available at more tourist focussed areas of Hanoi. Too big to walk around so either a cycle or cyclo tour would be the way to go.

“great to sit on the side walk and watch the world go by”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

much larger then hoan kiem lake, there are many buildings to see as you walk around here.

Heaps of boys/men fishing - not sure about eating them though haha

a few keen fruit ladies - might try to get a photo with you (and sell you fruit)

“Many eateries”
Reviewed 16 November 2012

Not much about the lake; just a lake but the many food outlets & cafes in the vicinity is definitely worth a visit. Many types of cuisine & drinks available. Very romantic at night. There are other eateries along a small round at the opposite side of this lake. Not sure the road name but can ask the locals. Amazingly charming little cafes, pubs & restaurants.

“Uninspiring”
Reviewed 15 November 2012

A fair trek from where we were staying, near Hoan Kiem Lake, and it wasn't worth the effort. The lake is dull and dirty whilst the pagoda we visited was uninspiring. Hoan Kiem Lake is far more aesthetically pleasing lake and a walk around the circumference will give you a better experience of Vietnamese life.
