“Enjoy walking”
Reviewed 29 May 2014 via mobile

This lake is good enough for a short walk. Its great place IF the vietnamis take care of it, it is not clean and the smill is not good. Although you will enjoy walking there.

“Come for the views, stay for the swan boats”
Reviewed 28 May 2014

While the water is incredibly dirty and often smelly in the summer, many an expat prefers to live in this neighbourhood thanks to the nice breezes and great views. There are quite a few quiet areas where you can go for a stroll and stop off for an ice cold drink if your feet get tired

“Hanoi's lung and free fitness center”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

This lake is a blessing and fun to ride around by bicycle (16km, on mainly low traffic roads), depending on time of day one can see lots of joggers, cyclers and other fitness nuts around. At dusk smart entrepreneurs wheel in their food stands, provide tarps and lanterns by the water and sell food and drinks.

Unfortunately the lake is very polluted, but not dead yet (as evidenced by the many hoppy fisherman pulling out live fish from the lake), more adventurous characters even swim in this lake. In regards to water sports, this lake is still untapped and the main activity seems to be kayaking, but I also spotted 1 lonely wind surfer, one boat dragging a water skier and 2 dragon boats on a race. In one corner there is a rental service for swan shaped foot peddlers.

The views over the lake at sunset are fantastic!

“Trấn Quốc Pagoda”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

The Trấn Quốc Pagoda is reputedly the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. Once located beside the Red River, the temple was relocated to a small islet on the West Lake. When we visited Hanoi in May, the city was in the midst of the Wesak celebrations and this pagoda was filled with visiting Buddhist monks from far and wide.
