As hostels go in Vietnam it may be slightly more on the pricey side however I'd say it justifies itself. It's clean, efficient and the rooms are nice whilst security was a big plus. Every bed comes with a locker whilst if you do one of the tours through the hostel they lock up your bags well, which is reassuring whilst your enjoying yourself somewhere else. The food is good as are the general facilities, whilst the location is also a plus. The real bonus to this hostel, however, is the sociable atmosphere, aided by the fact that each day has a different social event, whether a barbeque or whatever, that makes it very easy to meet fellow travellers, facilitated by the social area and pool table in addition to the bar. The staff are friendly and the hostel is nice and so I'd say it does come to justify itself.

Stayed in a twin room on level 7. The room itself is nice - apart from the rock hard beds! Very clean and nicely presented. The hostel is loud and busy - you will either love or hate it. I only stayed 1 night in transit, don't know how many more nights I could have stayed there - bit too old for that! Breakfast included in small but yum. I found the staff to be a bit rude, not very helpful and rather impatient.

First off I'll start by saying that this hostel wasn't for me. I've seen another review say that it is like a nightclub with bedrooms and that is literally what it was. If you like that kind of thing then this place is probably a dream! Full of other young people. Quite expensive for what it is and the trips are extortionate - a tour office down the road that offers a cheaper tour which includes alcohol on the halong bay trip. The food in the restaurant there is good offering typical westernised meals - pizza, pasta, burgers etc. The wifi in the hostel is also good. If you want somewhere loud then this is probably the place for you, if not then look elsewhere and you will find somewhere probably nicer for less money.

Hi Lauren, Thanks for taking the time to review our hostel. Having read your review I think you would have been more suited at our Original Hostel which is of the same quality but more chilled out and relaxed. still has a bar of course but it closes at 9.30pm. I hope you had a great trip. VBH Crew Manager.

We stayed in a seventh floor double room with A/C for our last night travelling. The place was very busy and had a great vibe the moment you walked in the door and when we got to the room it was beautiful. However we met a lot of travellers for whom this was the first place they stayed and they had handed over hundreds of dollars for HaLong Bay or Sapa Tours before their first night in Vietnam. A word of warning, these tours were the most expensive we have seen, by a long way, in our three weeks travelling up Vietnam from HCMC to Hanoi. The staff did a great job of selling but you'd have to be pretty naive to hand over your cash! Furthermore, the breakfast that was included was very small and you had to pay for additional extras such as beans, bacon, toast and bananas - around 20D or just under a dollar per extra. Compared to other prices we have paid for food this is very high and I believe is taking advantage of the captive audience of hungover students. Great place to stay and have a laugh but shop around with other tour companies before purchasing one from here!

Hi Charlie, Thanks for your recent review of our hostel and we are pleased you had a good time. Most free breakfasts out there consist of bread and jams so we hope eggs and fruit salad was a good upgrade from the norm - that said we take your comments on board and we might also look to offer a buffet breakfast in the future further maximizing the value for money. Hope you had a great trip and all the best for the future. VBH Crew manager.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for four nights. We shared a double bunk in the dorm which at 250, 000 dong between us each night was great value considering a lovely breakfast of pancakes or eggs is included. Good sized under bed lockers, plenty of sockets and air con plus clean bathrooms, a decent bar with food and loads of drinks offers. Backpackers can't expect much more.

This hostel is amazing, it's like a nightclub with bedrooms and that's the best way to describe it.

Our party of 3 arrived at the hostel at about 10.30, we were shattered and agreed that when we got there we'd get an early one and crash in bed. Upon walking into the lobby we thought we'd got the wrong place. The whole lobby was buzzing with people and a great atmosphere. We got shown to our room and everything was explained perfectly. Wifi, keys, checkout, breakfast, facilities etc.

We had a crazy first night and decided we'd stay an extra 3. The mixed dorms are like zoos depending what level of party animal you get put with. But it's all good fun if your willing to get stuck in and have no sleep.

Food was really good but portions weren't great and the prices were high compared to other restaurants on the street. Drinks were also over priced. 60,000 dong for a vodka and mixer isn't bad until you realise that you can buy a large bottle of vodka across the road for 70,000 dong. We did this most nights and took the vodka to our rooms.

They are happy to play all of the World Cup games no matter what time they are on which is good because there is a compete mix of nationalities in this hostel.

We'd also recommend a night in the lighthouse which is a club nearby. We got ripped off in a taxi the first night but the walk there is 5 mins so just ask somebody.

All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, they went out of their way to make sure you were happy. They also all seemed to love their jobs which is nice.

The whole place was really clean and the bathrooms were exceptionally clean for such large bathrooms.

Make sure you visit halong bay, a day trip can be booked at the booking office three doors down for half the price the hostel offer it for. However if you have the money make sure you do the castaway trip to halong bay. It looked and sounded amazing when booked through the hostel.

All in all if you're looking to meet loads of new people in a fun, lively hostel then book a few nights here.

All female dorms are a lot cleaner than mixed dorms.

I stayed here for 2 nights. It's the busiest hostel I've ever stayed in-day and night. It's great for a party, but not good in the day when you're hungover and struggling to find a place to sit down amongst the crowds. They organise tours and themed nights in the bar. The party in the hostel shuts down between 11 and 12 and everyone goes to a nearby pub/club, which is good for people who want to sleep in the hostel. You will love it or hate it here depending on what you're looking for. I loved it for partying and meeting people. Only 2 nights needed though as there's not a great deal to see in Hanoi.
