“hanoi street food tour with Thuy and turtle sidekick”
Reviewed 19 June 2014

We (My Gf and I - both 25 yo.) found this tour on tripadvisor and after doing this tour strongly recommend it to everyone!
We rocked up at their office and booked our names for the 5pm tour. It was an easy and fast process. $20USD per person or if you didnt have USD could also pay in Dong. The price includes all the food you will consume on the tour.

We were introduced to Thuy and another friendly tour guide who came along. Our group was a nice and small group and only has another older couple from New Zealand. Thuy and her colleague walked and guided us through the crazy Hanoi Traffic. It was funny having two small vietnamese girls protect us tall Aussies and New Zealanders). "Sticky rice" was the magic words to indicate we are crossing the road and to stick close to them.

The variety of food shown to us was excellent. There was a total of about 8-9 different vietnamese street foods we tried. The portion sizes were just enough for each type of food and by the end of the tour we were super full and satisfied. Thuy provided not only great explanations about what we were eating and also the history of the restaurant/food/Hanoi lifestyle but also provided great chat and banter throughout the whole trip. The entire tour for us was about 3.5 hours.

Overall this was a great experience and if you want friendly informative guide to Hanoi lifestyle and street food we would strongly recommend it! There is more to vietnamese food than just Pho and spring rolls! :)

“Great tour & Miss Moon was wonderful!”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We did a street food tour with Miss Moon on our second day in Hanoi. We were able to sample many different local specialities at Miss Moons favourite places, plus she would also stop along the way and purchase anything else we were curious about that we saw. There were 8 adults and 1 child in our group and our guide was so great with everyone, even the kid. We were absolutely stuffed by the end of the tour. A few of our favourites included the bun Cha, egg coffee, fruit with sweet milk, pillow cake and Bia Hoi. I would absolutely recommend this tour, and to go with Miss Moon (I believe she does the 11 AM departure). Our tour was approximately 4 hours long.

“Delicious Hanoi”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

We have just returned from our street food tour with Miss Moon, and would highly recommend it. It was a last minute decision, and we turned up at their office, paid, and off we went. Miss Moon was very kind and friendly, especially to our two kids (5 & 8). She bought ice creams for the kids, and when my daughter mentioned she liked lychees Miss Moon bought her a whole bag of them! The food was incredible, and there were so many things to try. We felt very well looked after. Thank you, Miss Moon!

“Authentic local food experience”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Vietnamese food is great but often what we get overseas is the standard Pho, maybe a Banh Mi sandwich and broken rice with chicken or pork. There's so much more of course, and this street food tour is a great way to dive into the city's food culture.

We had a lovely experience trying out eight to nine different stalls/shops around the Old Quarter over more than three hours.

We like eating where the locals eat and it was pretty evident to us that we were doing just that on the tour, often eating in hole-in-the-wall places or right on the sidewalk.

The food was delicious and certainly nothing was shocking or off-putting.

Our guide, Thuy, was excellent, particularly with our young son, engaging him and watching out for him - and the rest of us - as we crossed the roads with the famous Vietnamese traffic. Thuy explained to us what we were eating and why, and also pointed out helpful nuggets of information related to the areas we walked in. She was professional, friendly and clearly enjoyed meeting people and introducing them to her city's food.

As tempted as we were to eat more, we paced ourselves, ordering only two portions to be shared among the three of us at most places we visited, so we could eat all the way to the last stop.

We highly recommend this food tour near the start of your visit. Walking around with a guide is a great way to get your bearings, and having eight to nine dishes introduced in one night gives you a good idea of what to avoid and what to get more of for the rest of your stay.
