“Didn't want to leave”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

I stayed in Hanoi Family Inn for 6 nights all up and went on several tours to Halong Bay and Sapa during this time. Michael and his family were very very accommodating and the facilities were comfortable and gave us hot shower and a nice bed to sleep in. Breakfast was available with coffee and tea upstairs. if you're travelling to Hanoi and want friendly staff, safe and secure accommodation and wonderful memories of Vietnam then i recommend you stay here :) located right at the heart of the old quarter it means you can walk to all the nearby locations such as the Water Puppet Theatre and awesome little shops, bars and coffee shops. Thanks Michael and fam :)

this place is amazing! value for money is an understatement! for $10 I got a big comfortable double bed, tv with cable and breakfast was available on the top floor! and it gets better, The guy who runs it (Michael) went out of his way to make me feel at home. Even took me out on his motorbike to find a winter jacket because it was so cold! Wifi isn't the greatest, but it is available at reception and sometimes works in room. Situated right in the middle of town, can't go wrong!

I stayed in Hanoi Family Inn for one month and I couldn't be happier with the service, room and hospitality offered by Michael and his family.

Okay, before I go further I need to make one thing clear. This is a budget hotel, rooms are $10 a night. But for that price you get a private bedroom with a large and comfortable bed, TV with cable and a shared bathroom with plenty of hot water, right in the centre of Hanoi's Old Town. Larger rooms are available for families with two double beds or one double and 1-2 singles with private bathrooms and access to a shared kitchen. It isn't luxurious by any means but it is private, quiet and perfect for long term stays.

The biggest selling point of this hotel is the family that owns and operates it. Michael and Helen are two of the friendliest, most honest and trustworthy people I have met in Vietnam (I've been here for 9 months). They really will go out of their way to make your stay special. From finding the perfect tour to suit your needs and budget and recommending the best places to visit to inviting you into their family kitchen for some delicious food, a game of chess and little cups of green tea. They made my first month in Hanoi a calm and relaxing one.

The tours service provided is also highly trustworthy and Michael isn't pushy at all when it comes to offering them. Many tour operators here offer low fees then add on taxes and all sorts of other charges. Michael is very open and honest about any fees and offers an extremely competitive price.

For the price you simply cannot find this experience anywhere else in Hanoi. I highly recommend a visit.

Room Tip: Cheaper rooms have shared bathrooms but for a little more you can get a huge room with private bathr...

The hotel is small but clean, located in the heart of capital near HoanKiem lake. The friendly staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. The rooms were lovely and the breakfast was as good as any 5 star hotel. The restaurant on the roof not only had great food but a fabulous view of the city. We can cook with hotelier's family:). Great place to stay!
