The members of this club really make you feel part of the evening, they have a translator who introduces each song and describes what it is about. They all sound incredible and really want you to learn about their amazing art! Lovely people, a must see in Hanoi!

It is a kind of a very famous traditional culture of Vietnamese people. Just listening, and you will be driven to the very unique atmosphere!

I admitted that I didn't enjoy Ca Tru that much.
But overall experience was okay and the fees are acceptable.
The day I visited this show was Sunday, and there are only few visitors. (3 foreign couples + 1 Vietnamese gal)

You will sit in front of the stage and can enjoy closely with the show.
Recommend and need help to support this Ca Tru ..

Actually I did enjoy it for the first 15 minutes. But the show looked similar for other parts.
Still it is worth a visit. Give it a try and help this place. (search Google to find why it need to be preserved)

I really enjoyed attending this. It's not often as a traveller you can spend your money to save endangered music, but here you can. The music itself is simple instrumentation with one guitar type instrument and percussion with voice. Dancing also plays a part. While most of the meaning of the songs (well, all of it) was lost on me, it was still good to hear how expressive the voice could be. I also liked how they involved the small audience (I ended up playing the drum!). I wouldn't recommend this for small children as they may get bored but the water puppet theatre is a much more accessible way for them to learn about traditional music. All in all I liked it and the tea they served was a nice gesture which made it all less formal and enjoyable.

Bought ticket at the door on night of the performance, more or less on an impulse, and can say it was a night that will long stick in memory.

For me the best part was a long interaction with the performers after the show. They patiently answered questions and were happy to pose for photographs with guests. Lovely, lovely people.

For me the music itself, uniquely Vietnamese, is of a type that might for some people (like me) taken in small doses. Rather like American Blue Grass! A number of Vietnameseme people told me that the music is boring and they see plenty of it as "filler" on local television. Too bad. They should see it live at least once in their life.

Though the young lady who introduced each song/poem did an excellent job, I suggest that one visit the Ca Tru Club web site before attending. At the bottom of their page is an outstanding short video that gives a solid understanding of what Ca Tru is, its history, the roles of each player and significance of each instrument.
