“Good value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 January 2012

Compared to other 5 star hotel in Hanoi, Somerset has the same rate but double in space. We stayed in this service appartment hotel twice, once in a two bedroom app, once in a one bedroom app. The two bedroom appartment is just a little bit more spacious but the master bedroom and the living room are smaller compared to the one bedroom. We really enjoy the modern decorated room with ipod dock and TV with numeous chaines. The cleaners do help to clean dishes and the room everyday. However the bathroom is average. This hotel is perfectly located and everything is within minutes. The location is even better than staying in the noisy old quarter. Taxis from the hotel are convenient and safe. We feel like second home here.

We got the 3 bedroom apartment as we were travelling as an extended family with 7 persons. The location is good with easy walking acess to Quan An Ngon, Hua Loc prison, Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. There is a small shopping mall located in the building which was great as some of us didn't bring thick clothing for the cold weather and had to buy jackets quickly. The only low point is that being situated at a busy intersection, the endless horning from the traffic can be annoying.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing away from the front if you don't want to be bothered by traffic noise.

Spacious, comfortable, convenient serviced apartment.
20 floors up but still lots of street noise, but I guess that is Hanoi.
Staff helpful, we were allowed an early check in at 10am after the train from Sapa.
Within a polluted walking distance of the lake and the old quarter and the opera house.
Great place if you have kids, as able to get 2 rooms and some space. Probably would not stay here if I didnt have kids though, as does not have any character.....could be anywhere in the world!

We came back to Hanoi after 3 weeks of cycling and decided to splash out on a serviced apartment. Excellent idea. The apartments are big, clean and comfortable. The beds are enormous and we slept very well. I think we were upgraded as we had a spare room and 2 bathrooms which was brilliant - a his and hers (I hate sharing a bathroom!). Location wise it is close to both the old and french quarter. Some good restaurants nearby including several of the top ten trip advised.

We travelled to Hanoi with our boys (9 yrs and 7 yrs) and found the Somerset Grand Hanoi to be very spacious and also very quiet. We stayed here for 5 nights and found the apartment was really clean and had all the mod cons from home especially for us the wash/dryer machine. We took 1 suitcase between the 4 of us to Vietnam but came home with 4! Hanoi was our 1st stop so we hadn't bought up so the washing machine was fantastic. The hotel gym was really well equipped and the pool also great, The breakfasts were fantastic in the restaurant at the hotel and we also had a couple of yummy dinners when we were all too exhausted to venture out again at night. The location is excellent with us never having to wait more than 5 minutes for a taxi. The supermarket downstairs was also really handy to stock up on water, fruit and snacks for the day ahead. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, we booked a day tour to Ha Long Bay through the hotel which was also great. Would highly recommend to anyone and we'd gladly stay here again.

We travelled to Hanoi with our 11 month old daughter and really appreciated the roominess, facilities and location of the Somerset (we had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 21st floor - high enough above the traffic noise).

The rooms are spacious and well appointed and very easy to "toddler proof", and the kitchen and laundry facilities are fantastic when tarvelling with children. Having a small supermarket in the building was also a real bonus.

The location is excellent; close enough to the main attractions, either walking (15 mins to Hoam Kiem Lake, 20 mins to Cot Co Flag Tower) or by taxi which are always available outside the building.

The staff were always very helpful, friendliy and professional and the breakfast was very good.

Overall, this was an excellent place to stay in Hanoi, especially with an infant in tow!

Room Tip: Get a room on a high floor if possible.

We arrived late in Hanoi due to a mistake by our airlines, but the reception was warm and they upgraded us to a 2 bedroom apartment. Now when I mention apartment, think clean and fully furnished. It comes with 2 lcd tvs including a home theatre dvd player to keep the kids entertained, a washer dryer combo, fully equiped kitchen with convection and microwave ovens, fridge and cooker hood and hob. Although it lacks a dishwasher, housekeeping does help with the dishes in the day.

We loved the supermarket downstairs which we could purchase vegetables, fruits, cereals and fish to cook for dinner. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk to the hoan kiem lake and do not miss the local ice cream along the way.

Room Tip: Get high floors, traffic noise might be an issue on lower floors.
