“Perfect serviced apartments”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 August 2014

We stayed at the Somerset for 4 nights and again after our trip to Ha Long. It is a great alternative to hotel rooms. The apartments are spacious with two bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, living room and kitchen. We especially appreciated the fully equipped kitchen, including detergent for the washing machine. There's plenty of room to play, an excellent breakfast buffet, a big pool, Tennis court and even a playground for small children. All in best condition.
The service was great, and the staff very friendly and helpful.
The location near the Hoan Kiem lake is excellent for visits to the old city.
We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Somerset Grand Hanoi several years ago, and we still remember it fondly. The Somerset Grand is located in an excellent area of Hanoi, very close to several major tourist attractions. We had a 2BR, 2BA apartment on the twentieth floor. Everything was so clean, and the maid service was wonderful. We especially liked the washer/dryer combo in the kitchen. There was a small grocery store on the first floor which stocked just about everything one could need, and was open seven days a week.

The only downside to our wonderful stay was the evening I ordered a steak from the hotel restaurant; the steak was tough and practically inedible.

When we visit Hanoi again, we will definitely consider the Somerset Grand.

This is an (excellent) apartment style hotel, where you get a couple of bedrooms, a small lounge and a kitchen (to catch up with washing if nothing else) for your booking. It was ideal for our four night stay, either side of a Halong Bay visit, with two kids aged 12 and 10. There are lots of good reviews out there so here are our main thoughts:
- They store your luggage if you are going to Halong Bay.
- Close to the city centre but not right in the major hustle and bustle. An easy walk though.
- Great outdoor pool and leisure facilities. Gym decent too.
- Lovely breakfast (don't understand those reviewers who have criticised the range, what do you want more?) and a nice evening meal in the same restaurant.
- Well stocked supermarket in the mini mall below.
- Good wifi, room aircon and decor, general service, friendliness and cleanliness that you want generally.
- On the doorstep (literally) of the old prison museum, worth a visit.

If you were going to be really picky (and not want to pay a premium for it) you might moan about the lack of aircon in corridors and lifts or about the general street noise. The latter is Hanoi people, live with it.

We really liked and valued our stay here.

Room Tip: It's possibly quieter on the highest floors.

This is the second Somerset property we've stayed in and we find them difficult to fault. We are a family of five and always seem to struggle to find a hotel that can easily accommodate us. With the Somerset apartments you get so much more. We had a three bedroom apartment which had a extremely large living area, a kitchen, a washing machine, air con basically room to relax as a family together.

The facilities are always excellent, a good pool, gym, fabulous breakfast, bar and restaurant. On top of that the staff are super polite and can never do enough for you.

The Hanoi Grand was centrally located and walking distance to local restaurants, the imperial Palaces and the old quarter (20 mins).

We will always try and book a Somerset when we can. Saigon next!!

Execellent service incl. taxi cooperation, great pool incl towels, international breakfast is somehow limited but was good enough for the duration of our stay. Up to date room (family suit was perfect - 2 bedrooms / bathrooms , kitchen (used only the water cooker and frige). Good location: you can walk to the center within 10-15 minutes.

Party of 6 girls and only for 2 nights. Sigh. Not enough time to truly appreciate what Hanoi and this apartment had to offer.

We had a 3 bedroom apartment on the 9th floor, and there was plenty of room for 6 of us. There was a king sized bed with the ensuite, another room with a queen bed and the last room had 2 singles. Bathrooms was large enough, water pressure good with basic toiletries. Kitchen seemed adequate but we didn't do more than boil water and open a bottle of bubbly! Wifi was good all throughout the apartment, the TV had many channels too. We could see the pool and tennis courts but didn't have the time to explore.

Breakfast was a dream and worth getting up early to savour slowly. Egg station, usual sausages and other cooked meats, hot pho or congee, breads and bagels, mini muffins, cured meats, cereals, fruits and yoghurt. They even had vegemite!

Overall a lovely stay. Watch out for the honking traffic. You can still hear it 9 floors up. Get a room on a higher floor if you can.

As a (large) family with small kids its always a challenge to find appropriate hotel rooms. The Somerset Grand was exactly what we needed: large, well maintained & clean apartment; plenty of space for toddlers and babies to roam; good breakfast and pool; and good sleep.
Minor complaint (must have one at least...): no A/C in the corridors and elevator (I can understand saving on the AC in the expansive corridors, but why not put an AC unit in the elevator???); they usually run out of VND during the weekend if you want to use their exchange facility.
Location is OK+, maybe not the exact center of attractions but close enough and with cheap taxi prices you should not really care.

All in all - will certainly stay here again when in Hanoi with family.

Room Tip: Higher rooms are better view. But require longer travel on the (hot and stuffy) elevators

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is great to have you and your family stay with us. We appreciate your review and the compliments about our spacious apartment, service and facilities.

With regards to your suggestion about air-conditioning at the hallway, we seek your understanding that we are unable to do so because there is limitation of our building structure and low ceiling at the hallway, there is no provision for air-conditioning system installation at the hallway. Nevertheless, as we are keen to make improvements to enhance our residents’ overall stay, we have shared your feedback with our Product and Technical Services team, who will review your suggestions for future consideration.

I am sorry to hear about your feedback regarding currency exchange service was not available during weekends. I would like to assure you that this is an isolated case and is not indicative of our usual service standards. I will work with my team to ensure we provide such service to our guests at all time.s

We look forward to welcoming you back again at Somerset Grand Hanoi in the near future.

Kind regards,
