“Nice time in the great place with excellent service”
Reviewed 27 June 2014

Just stayed two nights with whole family (2 adults + 3 kids under 12 yrs) and really enjoyed the stay in this great hotel. Since we arrived till we left the hotel, personnel's service was excellent. Always with great attitude and nice smile give really good image of hotel's team. And not just an image, but the service was simply super!

We stayed in the 2 bedroom residence room in the last "island", and we really recommend those rooms to make your stay very pleasant. The location of the hotel is ok, few restaurants and shops around and just 10 minutes taxi drive to the centre of Hanoi. Water park was a positive surprise for us! We expected less reading previous comments, but kids really liked that and being almost only foreigners you feel funny. :)

We had lunches and dinners outside of the hotel in few places, but we also recommend to try & taste hotel's own dinner buffet. Lobsters on the table were nice & tasty! ;)

During our stay hotel even solved one cheating case of the taxi. This taxi was taken in the front of the hotel, and the personnel took this case really seriously, found the driver and returned the cheated money next day.

Once just positive things! :) Thanks for IC Hanoi for the good job - and hopefully see you soon once again!

Room Tip: Residence rooms on the last "island" are great. We had 2 bedroom residence, and for 5 memb...

I arrive at the hotel 8.00 am after flight from UK. Staff were amazing. My double room was not ready so they upgraded me to a twin lake view room ready immediately. Fantastic room over the water with super views of the lake. That night there was a bad storm so ate in the hotel. Great food, had soft shell crabs. The hotel manager came round to see if everyone was okay given the weather. Grounds swimming pool and open-air bar all excellent. A lovely quiet retreat from the husstle of Hanoi. Certainly would recommend to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on "stilts" over the water. Look out for the vietnameses swimming and fishi...

Stayed three nights in Hanoi and chose to visit the InterContinental again. The property is stunning and offers a resort feel, while being located a short ride away from the Old Quarter. As an Ambassador member, my loyalty was recognized and the rooms are well appointed and was facing Westlake, with stunning views during sunset. I also chose to get Club Access which was great to start the day and end with a few drinks.

What was most exceptional was the service delivered by the team. I felt very welcomed by Nga in the Club Lounge and her team did a great job. Also I can't thank the concierge team (Xuan and Hue) enough for making my stay memorable, by recommending some fantastic restaurants and cafes out of the beaten path. Special mention to Xuan who recommended a little gem in the centre of town called Ca Phe Pho Co at 11 Hang Gai. Make sure you ask the concierge how to find it!

overall a great stay and I will surely be back.

Room Tip: Book a room with Club access, it's great value and offers a great place to relax and unwind.

Really wonderful hotel, just on the outskirts of Hanoi city centre this hotel is at the higher end of the market! We had a room with a balcony overlooking the lake where you can watch the sunset, stunning. Rooms very beautifully decorated, staff very friendly and good food and cocktails :)

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony over looking the lake facing the sunset

Everything as expected and no surprises here.
Buffet breakfast spread could definitely improve a notch up.
Was given a room with view of the restaurant's roof, this really makes me feel being treated as "unimportant". Good job Intercontinental.
The club sandwich is just a club sandwich, nothing as described by another reviewer about "best ever crafted"....There is no crafting, it's just plain old club sandwich with a bunch of shoe string fries that you can find in any decent hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid that roof view room!

We loved this hotel from start to finish.

We pre-arranged transport from the airport through the hotel - we were picked up inside baggae claim area which was kind of strange but a great touch. One of the first things we asked about was the spa options and by the time we had collected our bags - in room massages were booked for myself and partner for that evening.

The staff were so accommodting and helpful from check in to the restaurants and bars we just couldnt fault the service.

Our room was large, modern and comfortable (we stayed in the King Bed Grand Westlake Suite) for a hotel of this calibre - the price of the room we found to be very cheap it really felt like a suite.

I know some reviews have smashed the views from their rooms... we did notice when we drove up to the hotel that to one side there was a little village, would probably go as far as saying a shanty town but it was typical of the villages we saw on our trip throughout Vietnam, it wasnt particularly visually appealing but it was rather humbling and while some people may have just been unfortunate, i think in many cases its like any destination - you pay for the cheapest rooms and your not going to get the best view... The view from our room was over looking the lake and was simply lovely, however one balcony off the lounge room we could see the little village and each morning we would see the little kids runing around and waving at us - it was very sweet....

We would end up at the main outside bar (sunset bar) in the evenings and just enjoy the food, cocktails and view - in fact our first night we asked to pre-order our meal (as it was rather late), we went for our in-room massages and then came back to to the bar and within 10min had our dinner served....

The hotel is approx 10min drive from the French Quarter part of Hanoi - we loved that it was more relaxed and chilled than the French Quarter (we also stayed in French Quarter on way back from Halong Bay and loved it but was very full on). Taxi's cost around $10.00 which is a small price to pay for the serenity this place offers...

We would highly recommend this hotel in Hanoi if you are wanting to have a little piece and quite away from the hussle and bustle of downtown Hanoi...
