“Clean but nothing to write home about”
Reviewed 17 June 2014 via mobile

This guesthouse was fine - located in the backpacking district of Saigon, staff were reasonably helpful and the room was clean. But it was relatively expensive and we don't think good value. We have heard reports of guesthouses in the same area that are also clean but with much more helpful staff and cheaper.

I have been back to HCMC for a week, and I stayed at Giang son 2 again , off course.
Always the same smiles and great service, ask them almost anything and they will get it for you.
Very quiet and convenient though it's in the touristic quarter.

The owner and all the staff at this hotel were so helpful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble which made our very first visit to this crazy city manageable. Excellent quiet location within easy reach of many tourist attractions and great value for money. Simple but tasty breakfast with strong coffee on tap. Pre booked on line with airport pick up to ease the pressure! Booked trip and overnight buses through the hotel too.

Our first visit to Vietnam, can't wait to go back!

Overall, we had a great experience at Giang Son. Slightly more expensive than some of the other places nearby, but still around $20 AUD per night. Absolutely lovely staff, clean rooms with air con, serviced daily, etc. Walking distance to night markets & major attractions. Get on it, son!

The location is really good, just in the middle of the backpackers street, near from 24h food and drink stores. The room is really comfortable and clean, its furniture seems to be new. The bathroom is big and clean as well. the offer free breakfast with eggs bread coffee and tea. The cost is very fair (15 dollars for a double bedroom with private bathroom)
The family of the guesthouse is the best. Friendly, making you feel home, they help you with reservations of taxis, tours and trips.
Super recommend.

I arrived one afternoon without booking and stayed for 2 nights. I was offered a discount of $5 dollars, and ended up on the first floor with a window out over the alley! So can't complain about the lack of lift. Was a bit hard to find as it's down an alley off a side road. Fun place to be and very close to city centre for sightseeing.

Room was clean, en suite is only separate from the room by glass screen, so wouldn't have much privacy if it was two people sharing.

Breakfast was included, nice if you like eggs, rolls, jam and fruit but no other choice.

Staff all very helpful, informative and friendly. They spoke good English and booked a train ticket for me at a similar price to those I found quoted online.

All in all a great start to my trip in Vietnam!

Stayed here because of a glowing review from Lonely Planet. Ended up a little disappointed. Sheets were quite thoroughly stained and walls were dirty. Don't get hoodwinked into paying extra for a window. The window in my room was tiny and faced a cinderblock wall about 2 feet away. It provided no natural light and no view so it was a complete waste of money. Really noisy so don't expect much in the way of sleep.
On the upside, it was conveniently located near the city's main attractions. Breakfast was good - a baguette, an egg, and bananas.
Overall a passable place to stay but I think you could find better for a similar price.
