the hotel is not so great. staff seem cold and unhelpful. the rooms were just about bare-boned average. stayed in 3 other cities and hotels in vietnam in the same price bracket ... this being the most expensive and it was by far the worst out of the lot. it is though... EXTREMELY WELL located! bang in the middle of almost everything! i would deff select a different hotel next time i visit Saigon on the same budget. i didnt try out their pool or restaurant.

It is difficult for me to enumerate all the ways in which this establishment absolutely stinks. However, as it is 4 in the morning and the taxi doesn't leave until 7—finally taking me away from this hellish experience—I have some time to formulate it.

It is throughout a ridiculous facade, where the nasty reality is gradualy exposed each day you live there.

The food is rubbish. I have been travelling and living in several Asian countries, some of which are very poor with very basic commodities. It is to my memory the first time I have not been able to eat anything that a hotel have offered.

The noise level during the weekend is deafening. This is due to the weddings that takes place above your heads. Do not expect to sleep before midnight.

The staff is arrogant, silly and have very poor English skills.

The massage and spa at the seventh floor is a brothel. I found out the worst way possible. Her massaging skills though, before I needed to leave the place in a hurry, was the best feature about this establishment.

I am awake since the staff used the air-condition in my room and turned it down to 18 degrees without me knowing it. I don't use the AC much, and when I went to bed two nights ago it started by itself. I couldn't hear it due to the huge wedding party upstairs. I have as a result a ridiculous headache and a cold that have kept me awake the day before a 13+ plane ride home.

Stay away.

I think a lot of the reviews below are a bit unfair. If these people were expecting a luxury hotel, they should have picked a different hotel, this one for the price is absolutely fine. The pool is great and empty to use if you use it in the morning and all the way through to about 2pm, after that we always went out so don't know at what time it got busy. It is crowded in the evening but this was never an issue for us. The staff were always very friendly and helpful to us, we had no complaints there whatsoever and they always served us with a smile!

The breakfast had a large selection of food, both western and Vietnamese dishes. The one complaint we had was the bread which wasn't very nice but this was pretty standard across Vietnam so this wasn't specific to the Victory hotel. There was always egg cooked to order, bacon and lots of other things to eat though so this was only a minor one.

It has a nice location - the War Museum is basically next to it and the central Market is only a walk away. The hotel itself is too retro and stuck in the years though... And not in a nice way. The interior, lighting etc is old and needs replacing. So does the staff - they are arrogant and don't really bother to help you. They look at you like you're a potential murderer :).

I chose this Hotel because of its pool. Unfortunately, the roof top swimming Pool is a very old (as the hotel itself) spot with no renovation done in the last decade. Plus you smell the air from the kitchen....

The rooms are ok, but also very old. The biggest disadvantage was the very unfriendly stuff (except the Security guards). The Hotel lives mostly from big local travel groups, so I guess they just don't care about the Individual so much.

All in all not worth its money!

We went into this hotel because of its convenience and close proximity to the U.S Embassy and downtown Ho Chi Minh City. When we arrived at the front desk we presented our passports to the receptionist as it is required to do so when staying
at any hotel in the country. Becayse I was carrying a U.S passport and my husband had a Vietnamese passport, the lady at the front desk asked to see our marriage certificate. What kind of a ridiculous question is that! Why would anyone carry a marriage certificate with them everywhere they go.... Especially to check into a hotel! I've traveled to many places around the world and have never been asked by the hotels to see a marriage certificate. Dont waste your time on this hotel. Bad customer service, rude, and the most absurd policy that ever existed if there even ever was one. Besides, the hotel decor was very outdated and smelled of smoke when you walked in anyway. There are plenty of other nicer hotels in the area with people who are just waiting to serve you with kindness. I of course, will never step foot into this hotel ever again and I wouldn't recommend a hotel with such a service to anyone as well. Good luck.

stayed here 4 nights, booked a balcony room which was great really enjoyed watching the chaos during rush hour from above, room was a good size, clean, all the usually utilities, mixed Vietnamese European breakfast, not my favourite but managed to find something to fill me.
Loved the roof top pool which stays open till late and best of all it was a really great location close to everything, sites, restaurants coffee shops supermarket. All in all really good value for money.

Room Tip: book a room with a balcony
