Sadly our Qatar flight was delayed by 24 hours so we enjoyed only 2 nights of our planned 3 night stay in Saigon. This hotel is excellent - clean, spacious rooms, good bathrooms, towels a little tired but well serviced. The breakfast choice was extensive and everything tasted delicious - especially the pho bar and omelettes from the egg station. Slept very soundly in comfortable beds, hotel was full of guests but noise from other guests and the busy outside traffic was absolutely minimal, do't let that worry you. Very pleased with this choice, being so close to the action around Cho Ben Thanh. Hotel arranged pick up and drop off from airports at a very fair price. Plenty of attentive and helpful staff, full of smiles. Would not hesitate to return.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for deluxe rooms or suite

Stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip to Vietnam. The hotel is in a great location and very central, right beside the Ben Thanh market. Had a great selection for breakfast. Room was very clean and staff were excellent. Our room was looking onto the main street so it was pretty noisy so I would recommend asking for a room facing onto the much quieter back street. My one criticism was the roof top OMG bar. When we arrived the first night it was about 8pm so we were pretty tired after our journey and we just wanted somewhere nearby for a couple of drinks and some food. The guy on reception was very quick to recommend their rooftop OMG bar, which I had also seen advertised on their website. When we went up there we were told we couldnt have access because there was a private party and to come back at 10pm. We returned at 10pm to be told again that we were not allowed in and to come back at 11pm!! We didnt go back!

Room Tip: Request a room facing onto the back street, much quieter!

Dear taraaobrien,

Thank you very much for your review.

I am glad to learn that after your two nights stay with us, you have enjoyed the buffet breakfast, excellent service from staff and location of the hotel.

Regarding the noise of rooms facing the main street, I am happy to announce that all the windows of those rooms will be replaced by double glaze in the next three weeks.

To reply your feedback on the OMG rooftop bar, I am really sorry for your inconvenience and if there is another chance we will definitely serve you better.

Again, thank you very much and if your travel plans bring you back to Ho Chi Minh city, kindly contact me so I can take care of your booking personally.

Sincerely,
Man Nguyen

As a semi regular guest of this hotel it gives me a chance to see if standards are being maintained over time. With regards to the Tan Hai Long I can honestly say this is definitely the case. Stayed for a week in July in a deluxe room overlooking Le Lai St, these have the nicest outlook. Note some rooms have internal windows onto a corridor so check if this matters to you.
Location has always been a big plus for this hotel with easy access to most of the main attractions of HCMC.
The hotel has a boutique feel and personal attention from the staff make for a pleasant stay. In fact the high standards and friendliness of the staff has always been a key factor in the growth of popularity of this hotel. Staffing and customer service efficiently managed by the office supervisor Mr Duy. Special mention also on this stay to the friendly service provided by Mr Nguyen.
I always recommend it to my friends visiting HCMC.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights and it was a very pleasant experience . The rooms are clean and the service was amazing . The location of the hotel is quite important as it is near the Ben Thanh Market That turns into an outdoor night market . The hotel is a walking distance from a couple of touristic sites as well as lots of restaurants . My daughter and I spent our evening discovering the streets and enjoying the local food .

This no frills hotel is next to the Ben Thanh market and within walking distance to major shopping outlets (Saigon Square, Union Square, Opera House etc). So it's really convenient. Plenty of eating places - both local and McD, Starbucks are all nearby. It says 4 stars but I would give it 3. It's clean and staff's friendly. Definitely quite noisy. But that's what you pay for convenience.

Great location close to all the tourist sights within walking distance, with the night market in the next block, great for dinner, shopping if you want that. The rooms are dated and need tiding up in the maintenance way, they are not dirty though. The cleaners do wake you up with their radios and cleaning in the morning, but hard for them to do anything else, unless they clear the building before starting their cleaning! Their radios could be a bit quieter though. The staff on the front desk are very helpful, especially Hong Tran/Tuan who was very lovely, helpful and appeared caring as well, and genuine. The porters insist on carrying your bags even if you happy to do it yourself, and doormen very attentive at all times. The breakfast is good. When we arrived our room with a window was very smelly and had really bad odour of smoking, after we had asked for a non smoking room. I asked the staff about this, and they immediately moved us to a larger room with no window and no smell, no fuss, just did it without questions. Tour info at the reception area, happy to give you any advice without trying to sell you any tours, and the doormen will hail taxi's which can be difficult in the busy traffic. They will even help you cross the road, which can be a treacherous task. This is an average hotel, but unless you are going away to enjoy a 'hotel' holiday without getting out and about the busy city of Ho Chi Minh, then it is a good budget hotel, right in the heart of the city.

Room Tip: Ask to change rooms if not happy, the ones higher up (level 5plus)seem better and bigger
