The staff was very friendly and the rooms clean. The hotel is close to restaurants and bars. It ruined it that on check-out we had to wait cause they needed to check if we had used the mini bar. They already mentioned how their water bottles look like. And yes, they accused us for swapping water bottles (we used theirs and filled up the fridge with our bought water) which is the biggest lie and we were just in disbelieve. Water costs 20.000 in a hotel and 10.000 on the street, we are talking about pennies! I dont even like cold water. It was obvious they didn't do it for the first time.

Such behavior is just sad!

Room Tip: Ipeace is supposed to be a good hotel.

I was about to stay there many time when i go alone or with family/friends. The hotel fee is reasonable ($12/single or $15/double) clean, have TV and WiFi access from room.

The hotel location is on the main street Pham Ngu Lao and easy to find bank, food, bar, tourist information....

it's not a modern hotel but for budget and just stay for short period was recommended.

We booked in advance through www.booking.com and our booking was honoured and we paid $17.00 as opposed to $20.00 if we had just walked in off the street, so it definitely pays to book beforehand. In Vietnam, the hotels keep your passport so if you'd rather hold onto it yourself, take plenty of photocopies as these will suffice.

If you turn right out of the hotel, walk about 3 minutes and turn right again, you will see lots of bars and restaurants, food stalls, shops, etc.

The staff in the hotel speak passable English and were very helpful when we asked the way to somewhere.

The rooms are basic but clean.. There was no window in ours, but my daughter's room did have a window. The bed was comfortable. They don't clean your room, or give you fresh towels, etc. You would need to ask them for fresh supplies; even toilet paper.

The electricity did cut off a couple of times during our stay and with no window, it meant our room was very, very dark. Once it lasted a few hours but it seemed to affect shops and restaurants nearby so it wasn't the fault of the hotel itself.

For a cheap, budget room, I would recommend this hotel.

The Thuy Tien is a good value for money hotel on the main road in the backpacker area. Noise could be a problem so ask for a room at the back. The room was a good size, a bit basic but clean with aircon, ceiling fan and satellite TV and free internet access. Great location, walking distance to everything, and really friendly helpful staff. We were going off for a few days and wanted to book the same room for when we came back - they told us no problem and refused my offer of paying for the room or at least leaving a deposit, saying it wasn't necessary. When we turned up, they'd given the room to someone else and didn't have any more available. We ended up at the Khach San Tan Hong Son Hotel next door which proved to be a better deal.
