We wanted a place near but not too near Ben Thanh market and found this hotel suited perfectly. It is a short block away, behind the market, The Superior room is a reasonable size with a window. The standard would be a bit cramped for a couple with luggage. The room was showing a bit of wear and tear but was kept clean and security is good. There is new management and I believe areas are being progressivly upgraded, I found the bed somewhat hard but that was been fairly common throughout the country. Breakfast is a buffet open from 7-10am with a mix of western and Asian choices. We always had enough to set us up for the day There was always someone at reception with good English who gave us good advice and responded to requests quickly.
My only quibble would be that noise from the corridors does intrude. However we were never disturbed by it at night.
Overall it is good value. The staff were good to us and it was nice to stay in a place where tours weren't pushed at us.

Thanh Lien Hotel is located centrally near the Ben Thanh Market and a comfortable walk from Independence Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral. Opposite the Cathedral is the main post office which is very photogenic inside and out. The staff at the hotel are friendly, knowledgable and helpful...and speak very good English. The hotel is kept clean and the rooms ( mine ) while a bit small was comfortable and the wi-fi fast and reliable. Breakfast is served late by some standards to 10am...and has good variety, lots of fruit, fresh bread and good coffee and tea. Had a very good stay for four nights.

Room Tip: I was given a windowless room so it was nice and quiet. The streets get going early and like all cities in Asia with many motorbikes can get noisy.

overall ok to stay hotel.the room is clean, tidy with all standard facilities, flat screen tv, many channels to choose.but the matress is quite hard.breakfast totally not so nice, limited choices.for shoppers, its a great location, only 200m to ben thanh market.staff service is satisfactory and helpful, simple english speaking, but not really showing pleasant face and body language.free wifi is available, and got free internet usage (3 computers) at hotel lobby.

Being there sometimes, one week each time of stay. Things have changed, this hotel is now under new young couple management; they work so damn hard to improve the past. Rooms are spacious with A/C reasonable prices, floor timber brings more bright, electronic power remote control, Plasma TV, Wifi is excellent, if you're taking laptop with you would be finished your jobs while travelling. However, some hic-cups are still existing in services, particularly the receptionist and security / room services, where still having issues :"if you don't ask, they won't show" surely the English barriers, so next time please ask them one then will see the affects. Agreed with others, you would see the bright and dark sides everywhere, lacks of professionalism in service, null response as wishes,..etc. those are raised to new management to improve to be a good economy class hotel...in hot and busy City.

First I booked this hotel because of its location and good price. I didn't stay long, just 1 night so I write what I felt about that one night and only. The rest is up to you.
Upsides: location, cleanness, price, parking
Neutral: room, facilities
Downsides: Too noisy (upstairs they fixed/ moved something and I had to suffer, I could hear ppl walking and talking in the hallway), then early in the morning I wonder if they poured the Flo into the water or whatever but the my whole room smelled god damn flo. That woke me up.
Breakfast are included but I didn't try. No comment.
