Stayed here for 3 nights with my group. My travel agent from Vietnam booked this hotel for us. Very comfortable hotel. The room was clean and quite but narrow.I have stayed in double room. Its just had some space for us (muslim) to pray. The location very close to Ben Thanh Market.
The stuff was very friendly, nice and speak English well. Overall very satisfied with this hotel.

We have travelled 6 weeks in Vietnam.
This is the worst hotel experience we have had for the whole trip.
We booked in advance and have paid 80 dollars in advance. When we arrived the were no room for us. It was even difficult for us to have our 80 dollar back!.
They were quite rude and said we could just call the police, since they told us that for sure they wouldent care. The rooms they want us to accept didnt have bed enough for us and all smelled a lot of smoke. We Cannes recommend this hotel, and dont ever book in advance. This is a scam.....

Stayed my last night in Ho Chi Minh City in Thanh Lien hotel with my friend. We found the twin room on agoda.com and decided to check it out. The room was spacious and clean. Nice to have a showercubicle so the whole bathroom isn't wet after showering.
Beware that they don't overprice you though. We had to show the receptionist the Agoda price on our phone and be very persistent to get the same price as the online booking.
But overall we had a pleasant stay.

They frequently overbook and their tactics are either force you to stay at the lower rate room or send you to other hotel near by. The issue here is I already pay through an online booking and must get reimbursement through them when I get back home. There are many hotels near by offer the same rate but less headache.

I stayed here a few times over the years. you got what you paid for. it's about equivalent to Best Western hotel chain in USA. if you have high expectation, pay more and stay elsewhere. there are many hotels that charge $200+ a night. Maybe you won't be disappointed staying there. for all of 5+ times staying here, the staff was cool and accommodating. no problem of changing my room during constructions at upper level. no issue whatsoever with the staff. tips them some $$ for their services. I don't mind staying here again and again.

We wanted a place near but not too near Ben Thanh market and found this hotel suited perfectly. It is a short block away, behind the market, The Superior room is a reasonable size with a window. The standard would be a bit cramped for a couple with luggage. The room was showing a bit of wear and tear but was kept clean and security is good. There is new management and I believe areas are being progressivly upgraded, I found the bed somewhat hard but that was been fairly common throughout the country. Breakfast is a buffet open from 7-10am with a mix of western and Asian choices. We always had enough to set us up for the day There was always someone at reception with good English who gave us good advice and responded to requests quickly.
My only quibble would be that noise from the corridors does intrude. However we were never disturbed by it at night.
Overall it is good value. The staff were good to us and it was nice to stay in a place where tours weren't pushed at us.

Thanh Lien Hotel is located centrally near the Ben Thanh Market and a comfortable walk from Independence Palace and Notre Dame Cathedral. Opposite the Cathedral is the main post office which is very photogenic inside and out. The staff at the hotel are friendly, knowledgable and helpful...and speak very good English. The hotel is kept clean and the rooms ( mine ) while a bit small was comfortable and the wi-fi fast and reliable. Breakfast is served late by some standards to 10am...and has good variety, lots of fruit, fresh bread and good coffee and tea. Had a very good stay for four nights.

Room Tip: I was given a windowless room so it was nice and quiet. The streets get going early and like all cit...
