“good,friendly budget hotel”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

i won't repeat what everyone else have already said.this is the smallest, dearest room i have ever stayed in.dear because i booked through a travel agent who charged double.this is not hotel policy, only travel agents do this.the online/walkup price would have made it excellent value.i would not recommend a couple staying in a standard room, the deluxe rooms are much bigger.for a solo traveller it suited me perfectly.all furniture is new & tasteful.the breakfast buffett is particularly good,10 or so hot dishes are different each day.i don't know why 1 reviewer expected an escort to the dining room,it's a budget hotel.noise is a problem;hcmc has new constructions every 100m or so.concrete trucks etc can only access sites early am due to congestion.i was woken at 3am twice because of this.this is a problem at any hotel that can't be avoided unless you want to stay at a 5star property.i will choose this hotel again next time i visit hcmc

Room Tip: superior rooms are suitable for singles only.rooms at back of hotel quiter

Poor maintenance of bathroom leading to shower faucet not "fixed" in its location and buzzing noise after turning off the main light (don't go off for more than 5 minutes unless the lights are turned back on).

The staff are great from the front desk, doorman, cleaners and the breakfast girls. Rooms are very clean, good beds, towells etc. WIFI. Location is close to so many parts of Distric one and the ferry terminal to Vung Tau etc. Motorbike is always locked up and ready to get whenever. Close to many interesting parts of the city, easy to walk most places, some great food to be had within a few door and some excellent bars around the area and nifhtclubs. Don't get a room facing the street, very noisy as there is building going on and don't get your laundry done there. Breakfast was probably the best I have had in a lot of travel but need to pick the time as busy and small area. The market on the corner sells everything so good and cheap and the little restuarant away from the river 3 doors down is good. One of those 24hr conveniance shops 2 doors down as well with 2 ATM's. Great area. Right next to the big glass tower, always know where to head.
DO NOT get your laundry done there, shirts had small holes in them, and they were near new, black shirts-ugh, and the price they charge is a joke, best off going down the street. Mini bar, tell them to take it away and stock yourself, pretty normal stuff. If you hire a motorbike and it's no good, tell all the staff, so if one goes on break the new one still arrives.
Other than that I will stay there again.

Room Tip: Don'y get a room at the front, lot of building going on, but they are the best room, I had, one...

Staff was very professional. We rented a scooter from them and it was a bit slow actually getting it, but everything else went very smoothly. I even took advantage of a spa discount at one of their sister hotels, it did not disappoint. More than anything we liked to location, away from the busy backpackers area, but close enough to reach it for a night out. Walkable to all sites we were interested in: war museum, notre dame, shopping, the palace.

On first view, very clean and very nice. Great value for money although a little bit small. However, we booked the "king bed" only to realise that it was 2 singles pushed together. Very uncomfortable! We also had a few issues with leaky bathroom taps, but nothing too upsetting.

Receptionists were generally great, organised all our tours and bus to next town for a good price.

Although if considering the Cu Chi tour definitely recommend sticking to the half day one. We went on the full day one and were disappointed that the temple visited was about 2 hrs in the other direction and lunch was average. The tour guide was defnitely a great character though.

Room Tip: Don't opt for the "king bed" this is really just 2 singles pushed together. Very uncom...

I've been staying at the Tan Hai Long regularly on weekends since I started working in the area. Small, but lovely, the rooms are comfortable, the bathrooms ample, the location is convenient, the staff are genuinely nice and the neighborhood is great. Right in the heart of Q1, you can walk anywhere at any hour; it's near all the museums, shopping and restaurants, a stroll to the river, or one of the parks. Right under Saigon's lotus-shaped landmark skyscraper, it's easy to find even if you don't know the streets well. Breakfast is fabulous, either Continental or Asian. Excellent place to stay in HCMC; lovely staff.
