Best word to describe this hotel. The staff are great, helpful, attentive and very nice. They make you feel welcome and speak great english. Breakfast is a good spread (it is great if you are meat eater / non muslim - but they do accommodate). Note there are about 5 halal food restaurants within 2 mins walk.

Two computers with printer in the lobby (old but they do the job, wifi in the room great speed). Room was clean, functional and with one or two desgin touches, bathroom was decent size and was a nice space.

Loaction is in district one, so it is a max 15-20 mins walk (i do walk fast) to the main sites, opera house (5 mins), notre dame (7), ben thanh market (10), Bitexco (10), dan sinh market (12) war remnants (15), reunification palace (15 mins) well you get the picture. You can also stroll down to river from here.

Lots of taxis (car and great fun motorbikes) about all times of night. Cash point right outside. 30 mins with no traffic to airport (45 / 50 with).

I had no problems and felt very safe day and night in the area. Staff enjoy helping out and on hand to answer questions provide you with tips and palces to see.

Shearton is 5 mins away and has a great roof terrace to take the city in at night.as is the Rex hotel.

For 40 quid all in all not bad, you may find cheaper and get more but if you wnat something quick safe and easy this is it.

I traveled with my friend to vietnam and stayed in Mai hotel for three nights. We paid 32 USD per room per night that made me paid only $16 per night. The hotel was placed in district 1, accross to the river, walking distance to benh tahn market, and two bloks away from pacharan cafe.

The staffs were extremely friendly, the guy at front desk are politely funny, and the most important is they speak english fairly good. Free speed wi fi...

The room was clean, quiet, with a jacuzzi in the room. I never expected I could get a luxurious hotel with 16 bucks a night while a friend spent about 10 bucks in a backpacker guest house.

You can deposit your luggage while travelling to other cities for free...
With 16 usd per night, i cannot ask more

Room Tip: Use vinasun taxi from airport it costs about 150Kd

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel at all. The rooms as well as the public areas all stank of stale cigarette smoke! The rooms are poky, not particularly well-cleaned and the beds were not comfortable. I was not impressed with the staff, who did not seem to care much about the guests. Unfortunately, I also developed food-poisoning (from a meal at another hotel); if I had not been travelling with a friend, I would never have found a decent international medical centre for treatment. The staff were totally unhelpful and ignorant. The "breakfast room" was pretty basic and the waiting staff didn't understand enough English to be able to take a simple food order correctly. The only good thing about this hotel is its location - very central and within easy distance of many of the tourist attractions. The Mai Hotel is also situated right next to a noisy (and dirty!) local beer hall, which doesn't add to its attraction. I would defineitely not stay at this particular hotel again, neither would I recommend it to anyone..

Stayed at the Mai on the recommendations of others on Trip Advisor. Don't think I will follow this advice again.

The location was excellent - you could walk everywhere in the compact city centre - but then again, another hundred or so hotels are in the same category.

If you are, like I am, a non smoker, then the pollution hits you like a hammer. The smoke smell in the rooms is nauseating, the atmosphere could be cut with a knife. Even with the windows open for some fresh air, the revolting smell of cigarette smoke remains, in the furnitire, the bed coverings, and the air conditioning. I changed rooms once but the situation was just the same. Alas I had prepaid for the hotel on Agoda or I would have booked out immediately.

There is not one brochure or information booklet in the rooms. The mini bar has some beer and soft driinks but no price list.

Breakfast??? Well the "cozy" breakfast room is set amidst motor bikes in the basement garage. The young fellow who is the cook does his best, but the "waitresses" are untrained and slovenly.

I would not recommend this hotel.

Stayed at the Mai hotel for two nights. The staff was very kind and helped me getting a train ticket to Nha Trang and getting me on a tour to see the Cu Chi tunnels.

For a two star hotel, this is very impressive. The room was large, big LCD tv, good minibar, beds very comfortable and to top it off you got a nice bathtub with jacuzzi features!

The breakfast was so so, but there is alot of fine places to eat around the hotel.

They provide FREE WIFI and it's at a decent speed.
