“Perfect location, perfect city hotel”
Reviewed 8 January 2012

We, family with 2 boys 10/11, stayed there during a visit to HCM. Location is fine, just behind the market, number of attractions walking distance.
Free wifi that works well, clean rooms, service ok. Small pool on the rooftop that served well to cool down after a day of walking and before going to dinner. We really used it though to sleep only since we were out all day

Having said that, not sure it's really 4 stars. Breakfast is mediocre, rooms are quite small (but clean in our case). For us it did serve our purpose (and most hotels were full or too expensive by the time we booked) but if we would have had to spend more time in the rooms we would have picked another option

"Central" says it all. Great location with quiet, adequate rooms. Showers have excellent water pressure (something I've found lacking in hotels 3x expensive in Saigon), the air conditioner is effective and quiet and the blackout curtains actually keep the room dark.

It's also quiet since it's not on the main thoroughfare. A huge bonus when you're tring to get some shut-eye.

The breakfast is OK and a bit of a melee, but that could have been due to the crush of people migrating to Saigon for New Year celebrations.

The services offered in the spa are fantastic. The therapists have great technique and the value is very, very good.

Overall, a solid hotel with good amenities, great location, and value.

This is a good central place to stay, very near all the sights & eating.
Bed was good & big. They set up a cot for our baby. The room was quiet.
The staff couldn't have been more friendly & helpful. They gave us so much attention. What an asset they are to the hotel.
The pool is good & rare in HCMC but it's very cold.
The only thing that I may have picked up on is that the bathroom was small & the shower was a little tired.
Great wi-fi access.
I would recommend.

Room Tip: If you've a baby stroller it a bit of a pain but they always help you up the front steps. They...

Travel agent booked us for 4 nights at this hotel. We arrived late in the evening. Upon checking out early next morning for 2-day Mekong Delta tour, the hotel informed us a shoehorn was missing in one of the 3 rooms my family occupied. We told the hotel we did not even know each room had a shoehorn as we all wore sneakers. The hotel would not let our bus leave the hotel until we paid 7 dollars for the shoehorn. This is despite the fact we would come back later for 3 more nights after the Mekong Delta trip.

After we left, the hotel manager called us on the tour guide's cell phone. He asked me for my "thong cam" (compassion & understanding). I was puzzled! The hotel lost a shoehorn in which we had to pay for it or else. And now the hotel had the courage to ask me for my understanding of its action. So it's kind of like a rapist asking the raped victim for compassion!

Later in the trip, a pickpocket snatched a Chanel purse with over 500 dollars in cash, we did not feel as bad as the humiliating experience at Golden Central hotel. We asked the tour operator to cancel the 3-night booking (after the Mekong Delta trip) and moved us to another nearby 4-star hotel (we had to pay additional $315 because of the last minute reservation). We simply did not want to have another incident with this hotel.

By the way, this hotel is overrated as a 4-star. it should be a 3-star. Among the 5 different 4-5 star hotels we stayed during the 15-day trip, this is the only hotel that demanded us to pay for the stronger Vietnamese coffee for breakfast. All other hotels gladly served Vietnamese coffee for breakfast at no charges. It had a tiny little swimming pool. Its gym consists of a few pieces of equipment next to the pool.

Paid $98/night for a room at this hotel during my december trip. stayed in room 904. the room is on the small size with good decor. Since it is the only boutique hotel in this area with a rooftop pool, that explains the pricey room. There are plenty of other hotels with delux rooms that goes from $35-50/night on the same street, so check them out if you dont really care about the pool. There is Truong Hai hotel (247-249 ly tu trong) that i also stayed during the same trip. paid $50 for delux rooms (room 503 & 903) and it's only 27 days old since grand opening. Its worth asking for a lower price at any boutique hotels if you are staying longer than 4 nights. Breakfast was good with more western selections.

Pros:
good location.
free wifi in room

cons:
rooms are on the small size
pricey for boutique hotel

Room Tip: try to stay on high floor as the traffic on the street can be noisy in the morning.

Very disappointed with the room and facilities given this is a 4 star hotel charging US$100 per night. There are much better 3 star hotels in the city at half the price. We originally booked this hotel as it did have a swimming pool which you will not find in the 3 star hotels, however the pool itself was too small to enjoy.

We stayed here last night - New Year's Eve- and it was a perfect location to be close enough to the celebrations but not too close that you're on top of them. In fact, it was a perfect oasis of calm in amongst the madness of NYE in Saigon!
Our room was on the 8th floor so we weren't massively disturbed by street sounds. More of a problem was how sound carries between rooms and how noisy the bedrooms doors are.
The room was small but absolutely fine for a one night stay. Great to have a coffee machine and the shower was impressive.
Breakfast was ok. Nothing special, bit scant on some items but I guess it was a particularly busy morning.
Staff were efficient but not massively interested. I may not have noticed this before but having now spent a few weeks in Vietnam I can say that customer service has been very personal everywhere else - not quite so here.
Nonetheless, the hotel gave us everything we needed on our last night in Vietnam - specifically comfort and a convenient location.
