As American expatriates for the past 32 years, we have traveled a lot and stayed in many hotels around the world. The Tan Hoang Long Hotel is the BEST budget hotel we have ever stayed in.
Small rooms but everything else makes up for it. The staff is outstanding, helpful and efficient. Very good location. The room was very comfortable. Have the Viet Nam noodles for the free breakfast and you won't have to eat again until dinner.
Be sure to try the Gold Fish restaurant directly across the street for good Vietnamese food at a very good price.
I cannot rate this hotel high enough.

Super location - Along Mac Thi Buoi, between Dong Khoi and Nguyen (pronounced as 'Gwin') Hue

Excellent room - Standard room with queen size, good comfort and sleep.

Service - Was good.

Breakfast - Ala Carte order type, good variety and I'd say above average

Deal spoiler - Extremely noisy room maids (3 of them only and sounds like 10 of them). Had to open room tell them to keep quiet. It started not long after again. Told the Manager Long Le when I checked and he says he will look into it. It has been complained several times before.

Overall, I'd give it 4 star.

Room Tip: Standard room is quite alright, suite room at $25 more and almost double the standard room space.

Located in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, very close to all the main attractions in the city and there are plenty of shops nearby. Dont worry to pre book your tour online, cause the staff at the reception would be able to secure a last minute excursion for you e.g. chu chi tunnel half day tour at a very cheap rate.

The hotel is very small and has no lobby. Rooms were clean, and staff were very helpful. Dont forget to request for room with window on high floor to reduce the street noise. There is a free wifi available in the hotel and a pc with internet available at the hotel lobby. What surprised me the most was its a la carte breakfast with variety of western, asian and vietnamese selection for you to choose one item/person. Dont miss it!

One more tips, Should you are runnng out of option to find a vietnamese restaurant nearby the hotel. I would not recommend to eat in the restaurant right accross the hotel. The restaurant really is bad and overpriced for hcmc standards, even when i asked the reception staff they would not recommend it and direct you to pho2000 just few metres from the hotel. Instead, go across the hotel walk in just 10metres into the small alleyway, at the end of the small alley you will find a good vietnamese restaurant on the right, and a pho2000 backdoor on your left.

The hotel is well located situated in a walking distance from all major sites. The rooms were clean with tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen TV.
The first night we slept in a small room on the fourth floor, when we came back to the hotel (2 days later) we were upgraded to a spacious room on the first floor with large windows facing the street. The windows are double glazed so no noise was coming from the street.
The front desk staff were extremely friendly, hospitable and helpful.
We chose this hotel based on TA ratings and we were not disappointed.

We stayed in the hotel twice during aour recent visit to Vioetnam. The location is very good, its easy to walk to all major sites and the road is quiet. The rooms were immaculately clean and the bathroom restocked daily. We were welcomed as old firends and the front desk staff were extremely hospitable and very friendly. Breakfast was served in a small room but the cooked breakfast was everything we needed. The staff were more than helpful and it was a pleasure to return back to the hotel for the second stop over. We will stay here again.
