The family that runs this, in particular the girls and the lady(her name escapes me) were lovely hosts, very helpful and very informative.

The area it's in is right in backpackerland, plenty of restaurants and shops around. I'd definably stay here again, you can't really go wrong for the price and it's only a short walk to anywhere. :)

This is right in the heart of backpackers area but a great location. I was on the thirsd floor and i didnt find it noisy at all. It's a great place to meet people and one of the major hostels where you sit out the front and drink if you like and there is a shop in the hostel so you can get all your supplies. Rooms are decent and clean and the staff are extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would stay here again.

Located in the heart of the backpacking area, close where all the buses arrive and leave.
Rooms are quiet big and clean, you need to ask the staff if you want your room cleaned.
Try to get a room on a higher floor, downstairs it will be noisy, esp. on weekends.
Downstairs is a little shop where you can buy beverages and other stuff.

Staff is quiet friendly and they provided us with a city map and showed us the local attractions. For all other tours & information there are many tourist agencies around.

Laundry, AC & Wifi worked fine.
Don´t expect more than you pay for!

Room Tip: Get a room on 3rd floor or above, rooms x05 will face the backside of the building and might be quit...

We stayed there for a few days and we bought a Mekong Delta trip from them.
Rooms are functional, simple and clean (ok, except the ants on walls, but I've seen them in many paces in Asia so I got used to). Staff extraordinarily helpful and friendly, I asked for hot water to make some tea and they brought it to my room. Very good location, lots of pubs and pho restaurants around. The only drawback is the noise in the evening (or night): music played outside is really loud so if you have a light sleep, book a hotel somewhere else, on the other street perhaps, as Bui Vien is just loud. I didn't mind, so I stayed there.

A college buddy and I booked a last minute trip to HCMC and booked a room in this place a week before we arrived. Basically the backpacker district is a lot like a busier version of China - tall, squeezed buildings with restaurants, pubs, travel agencies, and small guesthouses on the first floor.

Don't think there are that many rooms but we booked a room with two big beds which was like $18 USD a night each including fees, taxes, etc. I think you can get cheaper rooms but not sure. Pretty clean, with AC, towels, etc. You'll need to bring your own shampoo/soap but that seemed to be pretty common in Vietnam.

The guesthouse makes most of its money from people gathering in front - basically on the sidewalk there are plastic chairs and small wooden tables for people to order cheap beers and drinks. Great for meeting other backpackers or just observing people on the streets which can be chaotic. Every night guesthouses like these are crowded with drunk australians, brits, etc. Met very few americans like us. Good if you're into picking up drunk, sunburnt, fat australian chicks. Most of the backpackers are foreigners though so it was kind of a disappointment considering we were hoping to meet more locals. Drawback is that the crowd gets very loud at night and you can hear it all the way up on the 3rd floor, though 4th floor was fine. Highly recommend bringing earplugs, but I bring earplugs on pretty much every trip I go on.

The hosts at the guesthouse are very, very helpful. Think it is family owned since some of the sleep in the lobby downstairs. Only two or three of them know english. There is one really nice woman, I'd say early 30s and she seemed to be the boss of the place. She was really, really helpful - helped us book buses to Mui Ne and taxis to the airport without taking commission - most of the travel agencies take large commissions and force the prices higher. She also walked us to the bus station herself which was 5 minutes away. Lastly, since we didn't really plan well for the trip she helped us ask about prices for tours and what to do in the city - she even drew out a path for us to take when walking around the city. All in all, her helpfulness was what drove me to write this review.

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter - a must because of loud, drunk backpackers outside until 3am

Natural friendly and helpful staff (not the hipocrite type), the location is good, spacious room for 12 USD, during the weekend due to partying downstairs a bit louder, but not too much, from 3am it is quiet.

The guest house is affordable, clean, and has a great location right on Bui Vien Street. The only downside is that it can get loud at night so make sure you have earplugs. Good aircon and wifi, and Hanh is very helpful with anything you need.
