“Great music”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 November 2013 via mobile

Went to this place on the advice of a friend and glad we did. It is a long, thin place so the viewing is not great, but the music makes up for everything. Not expensive and staff was fun and helpful but the music is what you go for

“Great place for music!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 November 2013

A friend living in HCMC took us to Jazz n' Art and we had a great time. Owner and saxophonist Tran Manh Tuan is a terrific musician (we particularly loved his fusion of Vietnamese traditional music and jazz). Also, the music is quite varied - the night we were there he was joined by a jazz guitarist from France, a blues/rock guitarist from England and a singer from New York. Overall, a wonderful evening of really good music.

“Cracking Jazz Bar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2013

Loved it , great music at table service. Drinks no really expensive & $4 cover charge gave us spot on music. Female black singer from New York double brilliant . You won't regret going here , we went on Saturday night so check what other nights are like . Reminded me of the jazz clubs in Prague when the wall came down .

“Another Visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 November 2013

I last wrote about Sax N Art Jazz Club in January, so it is time to review it again. I visited the club 3 times in the past two weeks, and each time it got better and better. On Saturday nights Tran Manh Tuan, the owner and star performer, brings his 9 year old daughter on stage to accompany him on a few songs. For a nine year old, she is very good. For a nine year old who has been playing sax for only a few months, she is fantastic, and has remarkable stage presence too. In my three visits the selections changed (not all, but most) and offered a variety of music from Jazz to Rock to R & B. It was enough. Some of TMT's songs can be listened to time after time, and the presentations change, as do some musicians. All are good, some are great.

Best thing is that there is no smoking in the club. And it is enforced! Nobody smokes. That means those of us with heart problems, lung problems, or just a dislike of smoke can enjoy the music without pollution.

Regarding the supposed "hidden charges", there are none. An 80,000 VND cover charge is clearly printed at the front of the menu. You should not complain because you didn't see the message. Drinks are 125,000 VND, a price which considering the venue is more than reasonable. Where are you going to go to hear great music, have a neat cocktail, and relax in a smoke free environment for about $10 USD? This is a elegant Jazz Club, not a backpacker's hangout.

Planned to visit once to see the owner Tran Manh Tuan play. Ended up going 4 times over 10 days - simply brilliant.
