Room facing street on 8th floor was quite noisy. No elevator to 8th floor so have to walk from 7th. Breakfast was fine with good selection of continental or local cuisine although air con in dining area needs to be improved as very hot. Bedroom itself was clean and good selection of TV channels. Easy walking distance of Japanese quarter restaurants, cathedral, opera house and post office.

Stayed here as part of group tour. Hotel was walking distance to sights. Our air conditioner worked but dripped water all night - so turned that off the first night. Went and asked for a upright fan for the second night. Hotel brought that up to the room and that fixed the problem for the night - needed air flow as window useless. Room was basic. Bathroom was clean and large. Flatscreen tv. Breakfast was included (small room). Probably not stay here again - plenty of other choices in the area.

On the plus side, best lit room we had in entire trip and good aircon. Room was clean, bare and functional - official photos seem to have dressed it up a bit and the "massage bath" looked very tired. High spot was the bat in our room, but it left eventually and daresay it's difficult to stop them coming in through the open windows on the stairs. Staff ok, seemed to have nothing to do most of the day as the hotel is much used by tour groups who are out on the trail first thing in the morning. Location is good, a few steps from good restaurants and cafes in Hai Ba Trung, but I suspect you can do better for the price.

Room Tip: If you are on the 8th floor try and get a room in the side annex - the main 8th floor area seems to...

We had thought the hotel was good seem clean friendly staff the room had a little mold but what do you expect. but in the middle on the night I went to the bathroom and saw a fairly large cockroach run across the bathroom as I called over my roommate they had seen not only that one but around 7-10 baby cockroaches under the bathtub along with the large one! We just proceeded to move our luggage up high and we did not inform the hotel staff just because of language barriers and the hotel was included in our trip.

We also stayed here as part of the G Adventures tour and found it to be adequate. The staff was attentive, the elevator worked, the room was small but okay for sleeping (quiet and air conditioning), the breakfast had fresh fruit and the coffee was okay. The breakfast area is small and there are a lot of tour groups going in and out in the morning. If you need to eat and get your coffee go down early as it gets busy!

The best part of this hotel is that there is a brewery next door with cheap beer and two really nice restaurants owned by a expat living in Saigon. The restaurants are Saffron (a Greek delight) and the other is a Italian restaurant called Cia Bella! If you are craving something other than the local food, give them a try!

we stayed here recently as part of the G adventures tour, the room was ok it was clean well equipped with tea making facilities, good tv, the best air con we had on the tour. the shower was good with plenty of hot water. the safe didn't work but wasn't the end of the world. the breakfast wasn't great and the room a little pokey but I think the other people reviewing need to remember you are in Vietnam not London.

A very narrow hotel on the edge of the city centre, most of the traditional attractions are walking distance. We were allocated a room on the 7th floor with an amazing picture window overlooking the Sheraton and Caravell Hotels. There was damage to the window opener, which was rectified whilst we went for an evening meal. The fun began when we tried to have a bath. The plug was a push-push type but would not close. Reception was contacted (staff English was a bit limited, compared to other hotels on our trip) and we were offered an alternative....which provided 2" of hot water! A further alternative got us a shower, thankfully.
Having repaired our bath for the next day, we again found the bath not plumbed to the drainage system (see Imperial Hotel, Hanoi review).
Breakfasts were not really up to par, and featured some rather quirky combinations.
Staff were generally helpful, but language skills could be improved, and overall, the hotel felt a bit tired.
