We stay at this hotel any time we travel to VN because of its history and location. Price is good, service is OK, room is larger than normal hotel room. We enjoy the breakfast buffet with all different kind of fresh fruits. The servers are very nice, specially Mr Quyen. He is always there with a big smile and always eager to help. Thank you. We will be back.

Stayed here in April - May this year. It was beautiful, as a place with lots of history it's remained stunning. From the outside appearance to the courtyard inside it's classic and lovely! We stayed in a room for three with a balcony overlooking the opera house because we checked in early, originally we had asked for a room on the other side because we had read reviews on here about how it's noisy on the street side. It is noisy, but it didn't stop us from sleeping and i am VERY glad we ended having this room as we spent alot of time people watching and seeing whats going on (there is always something!!) from our cute balcony. The buffet breakfast is delicious! With all the usual foods, western and asian, with a omelette / egg maker present every day. We also dined outside the front in the terrace of seats overlooking the street which was delightful and interesting to see everything that's going on! saw quite a few tourists coming up to the hotel and taking photos - a tourist site in itself! The staff here are very welcoming and helpful. We booked two tours via the hotel. I day trip to the Mekong Delta which was incredibly interesting, we did the 'floating markets 1 day' tour and our guide was kind, and joyful. You can book these tours in groups or pay extra to do it alone, i suggest a group as it ended up being us and one other couple so was fine! They are run just for the hotel so no picking up other people, We also did a half day tour to the chu chi tunnels, with the same guide and paid cheaper for the group but it ended up only being us :) Both tours were great value for money and you can look into them at the desk next to check in! Also booked our lovely dinner cruise via them! Our room was always clean, cleaned every day, chocolates and breakfast vouchers for the next day every afternoon and has alot of powerpoints, good mini fridge, fruit basket and loved the robes provided. Would stay here again, although was VERY hot when we came so may consider somewhere with a pool... but would miss the history! read the quite american while staying here as it was written in this very hotel!

Room Tip: Despite the noise choose a room FACING the opera house as you can always see exciting things happeni...

This was my second stay at the Continental and again it did not disappoint! The location is superb, being close to many of the city attractions. The hotel itself is steeped in old world charm and has a wonderful ambience. The courtyard breakfasts under the ancient frangipanis are a delight. If you want a new, featureless pub that could be located anywhere, then this is not the hotel for you. But, if your after charm, uniqueness and wonderful service, then this is the place. It reminds me of the Hydro Majestic Hotel, in the Blue Mountain west of Sydney! Will stay here again and again.

Hotel Continental in Saigon (HCMC) was constructed between 1878-1880 originally for the purpose of providing the French traveler a French style of luxury accommodation after a long cruise to the new continent and back then it must have been a delight to stay here, however, after my fantastic relaxing week in Hue I decided to choose this hotel for the last 2 nights of my trip before travelling home. After the check-in formalities I was shown to my room on the first floor, The room had a colonial feel about it, quite spacious and a queen size bed and a collection of indochine furniture and a balcony with a view of the Opera House.
Breakfast was served on the ground floor and you have a choice either to sit in an air conditioned room or in the inner court yard which is quite pleasant and the breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The hotel also has a small terrace with tables and chairs at the front of the hotel situated on the pavement which is a nice spot to people watch or read a newpaper whilst Saigon comes alive in the morning. Overall though I found the hotel just Avarage and the service could've been better. I probably won't stay here again on my next trip to Saigon (HCMC) as there are plenty of good hotels to choose from with good rates..

I stayed here 8 years ago and had very fond memories so decided to stay here again this trip.
Wasn't too fussed with the reception staff but everything else there was fine. The room was ok... nothing outstanding although we couldn't get anyone to change the 2 single beds for a queen for the whole time we were there !!!! Lucky we weren't honeymooners lol. Anyway, the balcony had a lovely view over to the opera house and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go.
The brekki was fantastic. So many choices. We loved it.
We had a great stay overall although I think the old girl has seen better days. Think we would probably look elsewhere next visit

The hotel is one of the rare accomodations spreading the old school colonial charme of Saigon. The rooms provide above average space, lighting is however very poor. Breakfast quality and atmosphere fit to the atmosphere of the hotel, service could be better though. Price-performance ratio absolutely ok also given the most central location Saigon can provide. Spa service however very unprofessional and poor atmosphere. Still would book this hotel again.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in 2012. Everything was average - room and decor weren't modern - but that's what you'd expect as it's not a new hotel. Breakfast was average. Location was good. Service was good.
