“Love the location!”
Reviewed 28 December 2010

My family (2 adults & 1 child) stayed here at room 423 from 4 December 2010 for 4 nights and we paid a total of USD480.48 (early bird promotion) for the Junoir Suite booked through the hotel's website.

We reached there around 6pm+ and was given a room upon check-in, the staffs at the reception area were friendly!

It was quite messy along the way from lobby to our room due to the renovation but once we reached the room, we were quite happy to see a rather 'new' room comparing to the outside. The room was clean and we were very pleased to come back to a clean room after our daily outings, thanks to the housekeeper!

One thing to note, try to ask for rooms far from the rooftop bar as it can be noisy at night! Our friend's family was in room 427, it was so noisy that they requested to change room the next day late afternoon after we came back from our tour and they were given another room less than an hour upon request!

The bathroom was ok, shower at the bath tub with removable shower head plus the complimentary soaps & shampoo, etc.

The pools were ok!

The location is very convenient, near to shopping malls and cafes or restaurants. Walking distance to Ben Thanh Market too. The only challenge was crossing the busy roads like in many places in Vietnam.

The complimentary breakfast buffet was good! When the front desk staff found out we couldn't have breakfast in the hotel on 2 occasions, she arranged to pack sandwiches and water for us to bring along on those mornings! Very good service!

We also requested 16-seater van to airport at USD35 and the service was good too!

Overall, my family will stay here again!

We loved the car that greeted us at the airport with cold bottles on offer. Definitely worth the $25 after 30 hours of flying and airports. Our rennovated courtyard room was beautiful, quiet, and clean. The breakfast buffet on the rooftop was exceptional with a stunning selection of food and excellent views of downtown. The staff greeted us with smiles and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They arranged train tickets, and even helped us get our money back from an aggressive cabbie.

We stayed for 2 nights after doing a trip out of Saigon to a village, so knew we wanted some comfort and spoiling. Everything was great , fruit basket waiting too. We stayed in the old section west wing and it was very comfortable, even pillow menu delivery within a very short time. We made use of the pool, the bar and pampering in the spa. (Great having in the hotel, so could go straight to bed afterwards.) The upstairs dining was great with serenade as we ate. Staff were all very helpful and friendly throughout the hotel.

Great hotel, great beds and pillows, perfect breakfast, nice staff but there is a lot of street noise in the older west wing of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again but ask for a quiet room. The renovations were no big deal and the rooftop bar was great.

The first room I got was totally humid with moulded walls, I was then changed to a newer one but facing the main street and with windows absolutely inadequate to keep the noise of the city outside, despite I was reassured that it would have been quiet.
Let alone the major inconveniences for the renovation works ongoing: the management apologise for work done between 9 and 18, so probably assume that crashing and banging overnight is not disturbing. Was a relief to leave and I will never understand how they managed to get a 5 star rating from the tourism council.

There's nothing on the web site that warns you about the building work going on. So we arrived expecting a 5 star stay and it wasn't. The elevator doesn't work so you hump your baggage up 2 long flights of stairs before reaching the 2nd floor where they mysteriously start to work. That's if you make it through the fumes and dust without a headache and sneezing.

First night they put us right on top of the building site. Apparently work stops in the evening. At 2am it was definitely still going. So we complained and they moved us to a cheaper room. We could still hear the drilling, still hiked up stairs and still smelt strong nail polish everywhere. When we complained we were offered a free taxi to the airport worth US$7. Unbelievable that the place is open. No other 5 star hotel would expect guests to put up with this.

I'm sure when it's done it will perhaps be 5 star. But don't stay here until the renovation is done. I wish we had known.
