Location of the hotel was great. Guest friendly. Staff are helpfull.
But rooms are old and poor.
Saigon Saigon bar closed before 13:30.
I have no chance to try SPA and pool. they closed around 21:00. But I was in hotel at least 22:00.
So cannot say anything about them.
Hotel has a casino. If you like Casino Games, then you may prefer.

Room Tip: city view rooms are good.

After visiting in December I cant really see what the fuss is about as stated from all the travel guides. Yes its smart, has a central location, rooms clean and other services of what you would expect. Being such a large hotel its totally devoid of character and would recommend the Majestic Hotel instead.

A point to note is Happy Hour - this is where they state that only certain drinks can be ordered during this time which where 3 types of beer and either a glass of red/white wine; buy one get one free! Though the price of one of these drinks is probably worth two elsewhere. Someone needs to explain the concept of Happy Hour and take a look at the very over priced drinks. Hence when we visited the bar only two people were in it - maybe everyone else was elsewhere.

Overall a pleasant stay - but not worth the accolades its been given.

We stayed for five nights in December 2012 and are returning for another night in January. This is not at the top of five star range but is very good overall. The breakfasts have a wide range of choices, well presented and high quality, bustling at times when tours are departing breakfast experience varied accordingly but the produce was top drawer. Also top of the age but at a price is the fine dining restaurant on third floor where world class service and food can be enjoyed. The beds and pillows are top quality and so comfortable we had a room facing away from main square which I think added to the quietness of the room. The roof top bar is not accessible to those with walking impairments and te rooms are a little worn now and nothing memorable , special commendation to the concierge team who helped me with business arrangements when travel agency car was hopeless and the charming service at the restaurant. The swimming pool needs to be on e top floor as it is in the shade most of the time and perhaps should be heated to avoid shock on entry!

Room Tip: Higher up and to rear would be the quietest but I suspect all are fine and double gazing would prevent most noises anyway

We stayed for one night in December 2012 and what a treat it was. We arrived at 10am and were checked in immediately. We provided our passports at check in and the clerk noticed that the next day was my birthday. She upgraded us to a lovely room with a huge sitting area. Later in the day room serviced arrived at the door with a birthday cake and a card made out of white chocolate, with birthday wishes written in dark chocolate. When we returned home from dinner roses had been delivered. Wow! Breakfast in the morning was plentiful and delicious. I had a Vietnamese massage in the newly rennovated spa; a delightful experience. Following my massage, I enjoyed a couple of ginger and lemongrass martinis poolside. The Caravelle exceeded our expectations on all fronts and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Ho Chi Minh City.

Our first visit to Vietnam and staying here would be one of the reasons we would choose to return. Stayed in a club room which provided a spacious room with above average amenities. The club lounge is a great place for breakfast and early evening snacks. The breakfast selection is extensive and the service exceptional.

The location is perfect for exploring the city

The spa is expensive considering the cost of similar services outside the hotel

Room Tip: The club rooms are certainly worth the additional charge
