“Nice Property”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

This is a well established, conventional style (as opposed to the newer "boutique" style hotels popping up in HCMC) hotel. The service is good, the rooms are very clean and large. For those looking for a pleasant and quiet stay in Ho Chi Minh City, this is very good value for the money.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights on a tour. This hotel was a very busy touristic hotel which at most ranked 3-star by international standard. The welcome drink was very tasty but avoid checking in at 6:00-7:30 p.m. when all the groups checked in together and everyone had to queue up for the elevators. There was only free WiFi in common areas like the reception on G/F and 4/F and the lounge on the top floor. However, reception of the WiFi was weak and guests had to log in every 24 hours. It had a small gym and a small pool but deep enough at 1.8 meters maximum depth.

Shortly after checking into our rooms, the tour members next door asked whether there was strong smell of paint thinner in our room. Luckily we did not have that problem. However, the next morning, everywhere within the hotel had strong smell of paint thinner and it turned out renovation was carried out on 16th floor and the smell went around the whole hotel via the central air conditioning system.

Size of the room was average but the furniture and carpets were certainly outdated and not too clean. TV had many channels and besides local channels, there were BBC, CNN, CNBC, Phoenix, CCTV, Channel News Asia, Arirang, NHK, ESPN, DW-TV, RAI-Italia, Australia Network, Russia Today, Star Movies, CineMax, HBO, Fashion TV, Star Sports, Disney Channel, Cartoon Network, National Geographic and Discovery. Breakfast was good as croissants and Danish pastries were freshly baked on site. There was a stir-fried noodle as well as a Vietnamese soup noodle stations and eggs were made to order.

The hotel provided a complimentary shuttle service to 5 locations in District 1 and the service runs hourly from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. There was an An Dong Shopping Mall adjacent to the hotel which sells very low end clothing. However, for those who are interested in buying dried prawns, cashew nuts, Vietnamese 3-in-1 coffee etc., there was a small shop with prices cheaper than supermarket. Enter the mall at the nearest entrance on the right hand side of the hotel and walk to the very end of the corridor, the shop was on the right hand side.

Dear cutiedoggy13,

Thank you very much for posting this review detailing your experience with the hotel during your previous stay.

We are delighted to receive your praise about the food quality at our breakfast restaurant. I have passed on your kind comments to our Executive Chef and the team so they are aware that their effort is recognized and appreciated.

However, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your stay in particular the paint smell which was due to the final phase of our room renovations.

We will also be addressing our internet system (as you mentioned) which will be upgraded in the coming months, increasing speed and accessibility around the hotel.

We value your feedback as only through comments such as yours that we can continually refine the service we provide to our guests.

Once again, on behalf of the Hotel Management, thank you for staying with us and we look forward to welcoming you back to the Windsor Plaza Hotel in a not too distant future

Stayed 1/9/13 for 3 nights. Very polite and extremely helpful staff ,we arrived in the morning from the uk and on check in they were able to give us our room which they also upgraded for us . They had nicely decorated the room with flowers and chocolates for our celebration. Nice views of city from our room as we were on the 24th floor . Good selection and choice for breakfast . Nice clean hotel . Good that they had a free shuttle bus into district 1 . Would recommend this hotel wish we had stayed slightly longer to see more of Ho Chi Minh.

The Windsor Plaza is a little oasis of peace and tranquillity in District 5. The hotel is clean and spacious and the staff are extremely polite and helpful. The views from the Top of The Town Restaurant on 25th floor are spectacular. I would happily stay here again and recommend to anyone wanting to visit HCMC. The only negative is that Wi-Fi is not standard throughout the hotel and if you do upgrade to include Wi-Fi you are required to log in every 24 hours.

This hotel is tops on my list of places to stay. I was there for six nights and loved it! It was beautiful, quiet and exceptionally clean. The staff was among the best ever! They were polite and extremely helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Ho Chi Minh City. The location was wonderful, the food wonderful and the shuttle bus took me downtown in no time. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: I would recommend staying on the 24th floor. It is non-smoking and the rooms are quiet. The view i...

spacious, clean rooms. Polite staff. Huge buffet breakfast spread. Very comfortable bed. Busy down market location. District 1 not too far away by taxi. Do not use the Mai Linh taxi service--strongly recommended by Wikitravel. I got ripped off big time every time I used them. Vinasun taxis are much better--honest drivers--strange Wikitravel warns not to use them.

My family and I have stayed at the Windsor Plaza during December 2008, December 2010, and December 2012. We stayed between 16 to 18 days during each visit and the hotel was definitely our home during those days. The trip was business for me, but my wife and daughter really enjoyed the shopping and sites. The restaurants are good, especially the Chinese restaurant. The staff was amazing and I plan to return to the Windsor Plaza when my business cycle brings me back in December 2014.

Room Tip: Rooms on the executive floors are spacious, budget friendly by American standards, and have amazing...
