Hong Kong Kaiteki Hotel
Ranked #171 of 462 Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviewed 31 July 2014 via mobile

The Hong Kong Kaiteki Hotel is really great.

The staff are friendly and very helpful, even with the language differences!

It is well located - right near Ben Than Market, a mere walk away from Don Khoi shopping area and just two seconds away from the backpackers area, which is full of clubs, bars, restaurants, convenience shops, boutiques, ATMs and banks.

We stayed in a room here (as apposed to a pod) and found the room go be well appointed; cable TV, personal wi-fi box, fridge, toiletries, air con and safe/locked drawer.

The hotel keeps your passports in the hotel safe, you also keep your hotel room key in the hotel when you go out which is nice because that is two less things to worry about.

I had very few issues here, the room window looked straight onto a brick wall, which doesn't leave you with a lot of natural light coming into the room. The 'wet room' doesn't seem to drain that quickly so the floor stays wet and slippery for a while after you shower making the bathroom quiet dangerous to navigate! And the music coming from the club next door was really noisy from about 9pm onwards however I was given a set of earplugs at reception for every night we stayed here so once I'd got those in I still had a good nights sleep.

These few things are the only reason HKK didn't get five stars. We would stay here again. A good price, for friendly staff, a nice room and a great location.

Stayed: July 2014

Quite clean. Good place, near Ben Thanh market and bus station. So it's easy to travel around the city.
The staffs're really nice. But sleep quality is not good because of the noise from other people in the room.

The hotel is clean. I like Toilet, it very wide and there are soap and shampoo there. Hotel is very near night club.Night club is next the hotel but It not noisy in room.

It's my first experience with capsule hotel. I think I don't like because I can't breath. There are very very small fan in the room,it's blow very softly. And when I stay there in the night power failure..Very hot!!! And in night had new guests come, It's very noisy cause the beds are very near.

This is an awesome, clean, wonderful deal for a place. And it is in the best area in terms of things to do as well as setting up tours etc for the future. The front desk staff is in general really kind. Also the capsules are very clean and comfortable. And they are 6.00 a night!!! This was my favorite place in vietnam and my go to after a horrible 5 hour bus ride. I love this place and when I am back in Vietnam, which was a wonderful experience in and of itself, I will go here.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. But the capsules are the best value hands down.

We stayed in a double room on the top floor. View (limited though) was the busy street of Bui Vien. Window was a little tricky to open but not impossible. The room has this raised platform thats higher than the bed that takes up half the room. so if youre asian sized and petite, I guess you're good to go. else, you will probably find it very small and crampy. Bed was comfy, aircon worked well, toilet flushed with no problem (throw your stuff into the bin, ladies!), heater for the hot shower worked too. Telly had local channels and HBO and AXN (or was it fox?).

If you are looking for cheap hotel but expect 5star service. Well, sorry to disappoint you bro. (Theres this one hotel round the corner which has an in-house massage parlour (that comes with a free drink, from hot tea to beer!), run by a caucasian guy and is lgbt friendly and the place looks really lovely.)

otherwise, this place is good enough for the non-fussy, budget travelers who wants a big comfy bed with air-con for cheap!

Staff was helpful! Despite their unfriendly faces (its just their faces guys!), they are much nicer once you talk to them.

Location is great too! 15mins walk to the Ben Tahn Market and also to the night spot where you can find awesome bbq chicken and bbq squid that are served with this awesome green dip (awesome for people who loves spicy) and cheap cheap cheap beer! Theres this place with awesome pho further down the road which is q famous so its easy to find and further down that road theres this corner stall with an awesome BEEF BAHN MI!

Room Tip: If you dont like noise, avoid rooms with windows.

I've stayed in the capsule room, standard double room and superior double room during my trip to HCM in May 2014. Overall, the hotel was value-for-money given the price and location. The hotel is conveniently located near to the main tourist streets such as Pham Nu Lao street where there are an abundance of restaurants, pubs and travel agencies. It is also about 10 to 15 minutes walk to the famous Ben Tanh Market and along the way, you will pass by the one and only Macdonalds in the whole of Vietnam. It is three-stories high!

I feel that the capsule room was an interesting concept and provided much privacy compared to those conventional dormitory rooms elsewhere. However, the TV and the air-con inside the capsule room do not seem to be working during my stay there. I had to rely on the air-conditioning units along the corridor for cold air. There were also ample showering facilities at the capsule room level.

The bed and duvet in the standard and superior room were of high quality and they felt very comfortable. If there is one thing I can highlight about this hotel, it will be the bed! In addition, the aircon and TV in the room were working excellently unlike the aforementioned capsule room. The hotel also provided free shampoo and showering gel in the toilet. Other things like toothpaste and toothbrush could be purchased at a nominal amount.

However, one may wish to note that the size of the standard double room is really quite small but to me, the comfortable bed in the room compensated for that shortfall. Also, may also wish to note that it can get a little noisy especially during Friday and Saturday as the hotel is situated next to clubs and pubs, but the noise is still bearable as the clubbing culture here is not that strong.

Room Tip: It is advisable not to get the (superior double) room on the ground floor as it could get a little n...
