“Not worth the visit”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 June 2013

I did not like my experience at Binh Tay Wholesale Market. Our tour guide dropped us off and allowed us to explore this chaotic place. I wanted to leave after 10 minutes. There are so many aisles of stuff that you can buy, but it is mostly for wholesale. In addition, there were people coming up and down the stairs with product so you have to watch where you are going. It was too much for me.

“Wholesale Market”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2013

Binh Tay market is about 15 minutes by road from District 1 in the heart of the Cho Lon area straddling Districts 5 and 6. It's a nice place to go for shopping, despite far less organized and dirtier than Ben Thanh Market. It’s a wholesale market not like Ben Thanh market. However it has an enormous variety of all sort of goods, divided by area of business and to see how big it was they were spread in two floors

“An Vibrant wholesale Market - not for tourist shopping”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 April 2013

WOW 7 days a week, cramped, crowded, busy, and a an overwhelming wealth of different products you will find throughout the Tourist traps and stores across the whole continent. A view of everyday life in Ho chi Min city - Not essential for the sites of Saigon but gives a lasting impression of the cities vibrancy.

At the heart of the market is a shrine worth a quick visit - dedicated to the founders of the market its buried in the courtyard at the heart of all the activity in other cities it would probably have been ripped out and used for more selling space!

We were fascinated watching traders loading their delivery Bikes - never guessed just how much can be loaded on one 100cc Honda, much cheaper than a van I'm told. You wont get pestered as they aim to sell in bulk but as glimpse of what is available - its all here to see * 100

We took a rickshaw back to the centre through the market streets adjacent, streets dedicated to cloth fish Chinese lanterns and best of all the Honda Spares market area -- where every stall seemed to provide a fitting service judged by the number of mechanics at work.

“its a wholesale market”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 April 2013

We took the bus (Bus No 1) from the bus station near Ben Thanh only 5,000VDN. The bus goes straight to Cholon Bus Station. Bin Thay market is just walking distance from Cholon station. Most of the shops are wholesale dealers. Its a shopping heaven for dealers but not for tourist. If you are buying silk or cotton materials for business this is the place to go. Their prices are very much cheaper as compared to Ben Thanh. There are some retailers selling materials on the ground floor and dried foodstuffs at the back. We paid 270,000 VDN for a kilo of fried lotus seeds.

“Not worth visiting if you are an Asian traveller”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

I was there for a visit, took bus all the way from District 1 to ChoLon. This market is also known as Chinatown.
The market is dirty and messy. All the things they sell are daily necessities and stuffs. You can't find food or anything special there.
Motorcycles are everywhere and they market is dirty and messy.
Not worth your time of a visit.
