“Perfect for the price”
Reviewed 4 March 2014

You can't beat this on price and location. In the heart of HCMC, its easy to walk to most of your destinations, or if your too lazy, then catch a cab at ease. We booked a few tours through the hotel, and they were fine - all the "touristy" ones but we didnt expect anything different, and just went with the recommendations. ALWAYS service with a smile, even at the early hours of the morning - the staff really make this place.

I would recommend getting a floor on the higher levels, although there is not lift (so be prepared to carry your bags) however I found that in the morning the noise carried from the kitchen. I would also highly recommend paying that bit extra and getting a window - something about a window that makes it all seem "fresher"..

I would 150% stay here again, you cant beat the price, smiles and free wifi which actually works!

I loved this hotel! The rooms without windows are a bit drab, but overall it is a great value. The staff were amazingly helpful and always greeted me with a smile. I had a great stay and would definitely stay here again on another visit to hcmc. Good location in the backpacker area, but on a quiet street.

Good budget option in the backpackers area - worth paying the extra for a window if you are staying more than a few days. Everything you would need is here, air con, wifi. Staff even got up to see us off for a 6am transfer to airport which was very kind.

This was my first trip to Vietnam so I booked this hotel well in advance as I was impressed by the reviews on trip advisor for a budget hotel. The hotel is located in the heart of the backpacker area which makes this ideally placed since it's on a lane between the two busiest streets making it nice and quiet. We organised for an airport pick up that cost $15 and the man was their on our arrival after a long haul flight much to our relief. The hotel was clean and welcoming the the staff couldn't do enough for you. Our room was located on the 5th floor which was a bit of a hike especially with luggage but it overlooked the nearby roofs and the lane below and had a large window that allowed plenty of light in. The room was of adequate size with a double and single bed. Room was clean and air conditioning worked well. Room had TV with plenty channel choices and the wifi worked ok considering it was the highest floor / reception had a few PCs that could be used to go online also. The receptionist was a friendly guy and organised our bus from HCMC to Mui Ne for a decent price and not much more than Singh Tourist (formally Singh Cafe) would have charged. Plenty of places to eat and drink all around and most tourist sights are all walking distance. There were choices for breakfast and all cooked very well. I'd stay here again if back in HCMC which I hope will happen in the not too distant future.

We were able to walk around the city from the hotel. It was tiring but really worth it. The location of the hotel was at first hard to find, because there is a narrow passageway under a building to the narrow road of hotels, but then once you know where it is, you can easily plan around the city.

What was very difficult was that our room was on the 5th floor, the stairs were steep and narrow, and they had no elevator. So, watch out for that. It’s very difficult especially when carrying luggage.

Also, don't forget to take off your shoes prior to entering.

Pros: Great location in the heart of the backpacker district.
The room was spotlessly clean with fresh linen and fresh towels everyday.
There's a good flat screen TV in the room (with HBO and Star Movies) and there's a fridge.
The beds are comfy.

Cons: there's no elevator. We had to lug our bags up 4 flights of stairs. (when i say we i mean I had to!!!)

Other from that it was a nice and cheep little place that's close to everything.
This place is not by any means fancy, but is great for the price!"

This review is very late. I stayed twice at the Bich Duyen Hotel with my family during our trip to Ho Chi Minh City. The rooms are small but good enough to move around freely. The beds are comfortable with clean bedsheets and pillow cases. Since there is no lift you have to climb the stairs all the way to your room, good that we were staying at the lower fooor. The a/c worked well and the water pressure was strong. The complimentary breakfast was modest but filling, it comes with fresh fruits as well. The wifi is not strong enough, we were unable to connect to the internet from our rooms.

The receptionist was helpful, he arranged airport pick up for us and was able to recommend a good local restaurant within walking distance. For the price we paid we got good value for our money. Highly recommended for budget travelers.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at lower floors since there is no lift.
