We stayed 3 nights arrived very tired so not till next day realised we had internal room with no windows. We decided not to change rooms so kept bathroom light on. The room, staff, situation all very good. Breakfast was excellent will stay again but will make sure we are not in internal room. I could not understand it as the hotel was not full.

Dear Robyn B,

Thank you for staying with us and thank for your nice comments.

We are pleased to know that you are happy with our staff and overall services. Regarding the room you stayed, it is not our internal room, it is our standard room and we name it "Superior room". Our Superior rooms have no window while the other kinds of rooms have window with city view or park view... this time, your travel agent booked us a Superior room. You can request the agent book a room with window for you next time...

We are looking forward to welcome you back soon.

Best regards,

I first read about the Elios in an article in the New York Times ("36 Hours in Ho Chi Minh) that's now several years old. It's nice to see the hotel has maintained a high level of performance since then.

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and speaks excellent English. Special thanks to Phong, who helped me get around town, find restaurants, make bookings - the works.

The rooms are warmly and tastefully decorated, with good air-con and very strong internet signal; mini-bar; safe. The rooms are nicely built, with good sound dampening, although the window in my room (1104) was quite small. But I had a standard room, and I'm sure others are available and slightly higher rates.

The location is just about perfect, across from a large park, with funky alleys on either side that sport a vast array of restaurants and shops. It's a 10-minute walk to the market. Taxis are cheap, and motorcycle "taxis" are even cheaper, if you have the nerve. Walking is a great adventure in itself - basically a game of real-life "Frogger" (for those old enough to remember the classic video game).

The bed was really excellent - not the rock-hard mattress I've come to expect throughout SE Asia, but firm enough for a great sleep. Very good pillows. Control station and electrical outlets next to the headboard.

There's a comfortable lounge for cocktails, and best of all, a superb 12-floor, outdoor veranda with 270-degree views of the city. At night, it's quite spectacular.

The included breakfast is probably the best I've seen in this class. More than a dozen hot items, not including eggs and omelets to order. Terrific coffee. And you can enjoy your breakfast while gazing out at the city in cool comfort.

All in all, an excellent value, and well worth returning.

Room Tip: With the views that this hotel offers, an upgraded room from a high floor with large window is defin...

The other reviewers have it nailed pretty well. Its a decent value in an okay, safe, and centrally located area, but there is nothing really special about it. Rooms were clean, bed was okay but not very comfortable, but we felt safe there and everything worked out.

We liked the staff...they were friendly and breakfast was a standard fare free breakfast. You won't go wrong here but you may be able to do better for the money.

Room Tip: I had one facing an alley and it was nice and quiet.

Ok, I'll try not to let my opinion of Ho Chi Minh city affect my review of this hotel. Overall it was a what you see, what you pay hotel and it did it's job quite nicely. Staff were reasonably helpful although they were looking at me strangely when I said that the TV was turning itself on at around 5 in the morning, every morning. The room we had was a little small and had just a small window but I guess we were used to open balconies just coming from Thailand. Breakfast was only average apart from the view, so we went to restaurants for breakfast for the rest of our stay as it's cheap as all hell in Vietnam. You cannot complain about the location as it's close to the main restaurant and bar areas which we ended up frequenting a lot as we ran out of things to do. In terms of value for money this hotel gets a big plus. The city? Sorry Ho Chi Minh, thumbs down.

Dear Tezzer_J,

Thank you for staying with us and thank for your review.

I am sorry for the TV automatically turn on 5.00am in the morning and already let house keeping department informed to avoid it happens again in the future.

I understand that your trip in Ho Chi Minh was not successful and hope that if there is a chance to welcome you back in the future, we will try our best to make you happy.
