There appear to be three hotels called Tan Son Nhat close to Saigon (HCM) airport. One is a five star hotel that I cannot comment on as we didn't stay there. In fact we didn't even know it existed until we encountered a very helpful member of their staff at the airport, who helped us understand where we should go.

The other two hotels are three star establishments, about 50 metres apart, with a conference building between them. I booked through Agoda, and it turned out that we were in the right-hand hotel; but this only became apparent after the taxi dropped us at the left-hand hotel, who knew nothing about our booking. Yes, the three hotels each have separate receptions, who seem not to share information!

The (superior) room was clean and comfortable, with good sized beds and a large bathroom. And only £38 for one night, including breakfast. But bring ear plugs with you - the rooms at the front of the hotel face onto a busy road that has noisy traffic all night, and no double glazing. Breakfast was OK, and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately the transfer we requested through Agoda didn't turn up, so we had to make our own way from the airport. Bit of a pain, but we probably saved USD25!

So if you go for the three star version, insist on a rear facing room and grab a cab at the airport.

Tan Son Nhat Hotel (the original building, not the tower) was a very comfortable, reasonably priced and professionally managed hotel located quite close to the HCM City airport. The staff is friendly but professional. The price was competitive about $ 35 for single occupancy and $ 50 for double. This price included breakfast and free broadband wifi. The rooms are relatively small but comfortable. For an additional $ 10 for double occupancy one can get a much larger room, which is far more comfy. The restaurant has a really huge spread for breakfast including Vietnamese cuisine as well as the usual egg, cereals, breads, desserts choices. For the main meals the choice is limited but quite tasty. It's location is also attractive for frequent travelers as the airport is just 20 minutes away. I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms 402, 409, 411 on the 1st floor are big and comfortable, though about $ 10 more (double occupan...

This very nice hotel has a rate which is hard to beat. It is very close to Tan Son Nhat Airport and is not too far from the Center (a 10-15 minute taxi ride) either. It still has the old charm of the pre-75 architecture, being a working and resting place of the former Saigon government. Breakfast is excellent and the rooms are comfortable.

We booked two Superior room via Agoda (linked from trip advisor) for one night. We wanted a hotel that was close to the airport as we were getting in at 1am and had to leave the hotel again at 6am. We arrived at the hotel to check in and were advised that the room was for only 1 person per room for $45(AUS). When booking the room it said two people per room under the title max with a two person icon. The man at the desk continued to argue that these rooms were only for 1 person and if you wanted more in the room it would be at an additional charge. The hotel is not the cheapest option around but very close to the airport (hence why we chose the hotel in the first place. After a 30 min argument with the man at the desk he was unable to prove that the price was for 1 person and we were not able to prove two people as the print out only has max occupancy 2 people (not 2 people per room). I asked to speak to the manager although there was no manager on duty due to the time. He finally rang the manager and agreed that we could have the room but were not allowed to included breakfast and must be out by 6am.

When we got to the room it was 2am. In one room we found a double bed and a king single and 3 towels. In the other room we found 2 king singles and 2 towels. These rooms were not set up for one person.

When returning home I have since revisited the trip advisor website to find that I was correct and the superior rooms that i purchased were infact for 2 people per room!!!!!!!!!!

VERY DISAPPOINTED....

The room was clean, but smelt of stale smoke and was purely utilitarian in nature and decor.

I stayed on a Sunday night and there were a number of weddings taking place, so there was loud music and speeches until 11pm. I had an early flight the following morning, which is why I chose this hotel in the first place (it is close to the airport).

The water pressure is very average, and staff not particurlarly helpful.

This hotel may be a bit pricey by Vietnamese standards, but it is super convenient to the airport and was full of Vietnamese families (who probably didn't pay what we did). The room was fine and had fast wifi, good shower, and so on. The property is very nice in general. Also, the staff was fantastically supportive during a passport crisis I had (Immigration mixed up my passport with someone else's-don't ask).

Excellent value choice for a transit overnight in HCMC. Stayed there for one night. The hotel is a mere 5 minutes drive from the airport - bet this is THE closest economy option ($35 / single). Historical building, clean rooms, good but impersonalized service - but what did you want from a big hotel? My window was facing a noisy street but I was so tired that could not hear anything from the outside. Restaurant - the food was excellent, but I was asked from the restaurant before I could have my dessert because they were closing - I would expect the staff could wait me finish my meal.
