Beautiful Saigon Hotel
Ranked #76 of 462 Hotels in Ho Chi Minh City
Reviewed 26 April 2011

We returned to Beautiful Saigon Hotel this year after an enjoyable stay last year. The rooms are comfortable, clean and the location an area we are very familiar with. The staff are wonderful. Breakfast is fantastic, with lots of choice (please note it is served in the lobby, so can get a bit cramped - but a great way to meet people!). We travelled with 16 people ranging in age from 3 years to almost 70 years. The bus organised for our group was terrific with them taking into consideration our large amount of luggage and sending a luxury coach. Could not have thanked them enough for that! It was the end of our trip and extra luggage had come into play! Do not hesitate to book here or their other hotel - Beautiful Saigon 2. We went for lunch there and had a fantastic meal. Great Vietnamese and Western food for those not wanting to see another spring roll!

We had just arrived from the States in HCMC, so we requested the hotel car - it was totally worth it. The driver was waiting just outside the arrival door, which was nice, b/c it was a MADHOUSE at the airport.

I misread my itinerary, so we ended spent 1 night in the super deluxe room on the top floor, then we were moved down to the second floor, so we had a chance to see 2 types of rooms there.

Definitely "splurge" for top floor suite - it's on the 7th floor, which negates some of the mad noise from the street. It's a huge room - 3 beds (2 doubles, 1 single) and a big bathroom, with a proper bathtub/shower. However, there's an odd "ledge" around the bathtub where water from the shower gathered and spilled out onto the floor, despite best efforts to keep water in the tub. Everything was very clean and neat.

As other reviews have mentioned, the teeny elevator stops at floor 6, and the stairwell is literally one person wide. But it's worth the trek.

The next night wasn't quite as pleasant - the 2nd floor room was clean and neat, but it faced the street (noisy) and there was a billboard over our window, so we couldn't see out. The bathroom was typical of other Asian bathrooms - no separate tub/shower, just a showerhead over the toilet. Still hard to get used to that, but everything was clean.

But the room was also just above the lobby - we could hear people screeching/talking/laughing in the lobby all night, as the stairwell from the lobby led right past our room.

Despite that, I do recommend staying here - it's a great value, great location - walking distance to Ben Thanh Market - and a great breakfast. Just remember to either get the top floor suite, or ask for high-floor room. With a window.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room, with a window.

I stayed here with my wife for 5 nights in mid March 2011 and we had a great time. While the room was a bit small, this was no problem as we were out every day and only slept there. At less than $30 AUD/night, who could complian? The room was really clean, compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip to Vietnam.

The staff were fantastic and always remembered you and your room number each day. All staff members were always willing to help out with any questions.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone that wishes to stay in the backpacker area.

Spent 3 nights at beautiful and 1 night at BS2. Former is nicer but smaller and tighter and on busier street. Later has bigger rooms, quieter alley, a restaurant but no lift. Both are tremendous choices in low-mid range budgets. Rather they are solid mid range quality at lower end prices and thus great value. The service is fantastic with one waiter (forgot name but smile is etched in our minds) at BS2 standing out. Both are great choices.

We enjoyed our stay at Beautiful Saigon Hotel. It's in a great location and is a spotless property. The staff was efficient and accommodating. They did a fantastic job of transforming the reception area into a breakfast room each morning. The variety of breakfast items were many and all were tasty. Our rooms were on the top floor (7) which is one floor above where the elevator stops. The stairwell is less than three feet wide (no exaggeration!) Our room was tiny, but we were out all day, so it was not an issue. It's a great hotel for the money.

Stayed here twice. Once in March and the other in April. Location of hotel is great, surrounded by the bustling tourist area, my mum and I walked along the streets at 2am without being afraid as there are lots of tourists !
The staff in Beautiful Saigon Hotel were very friendly too ! They speak and understand english too :)
In March, we stayed in the standard plus double room which we find that its a little cramp, there was barely space for putting luggages and the bathroom has no partition between the shower and toilet bowl and sink area so practically the whole bathroom will be wet when you shower.
But in April, we upgraded to the superior room and it was perfect ! Spacious room that can accomodate three persons and with a personal computer in the room ! The bathroom was also bigger and had a bathtub.
Overall, Its a value for money hotel and I would stay there again and recommend the superior room. Oh yeah, another thing, Breakfast is included too.

The room was very small but with only $30 including breakfast this is a good bargain since we only slept in the hotel and spent most of the day on tour. The room was clean and tidy as well. The food served for the breakfast was simple yet very tasty and especially love the toasted ham, cheese and tomato. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing is that the hotel is a little far from the shopping areas and restaurants, they are still walk-able though. There are many bars near the hotel so if you want to stay up late and have some drinks while chatting with friends this will be a good hotel to stay. Also it's advisable to request for a room in the center or at the back of the building if you want to sleep early as the noise from the bars may be heard from the rooms position in front.

Room Tip: try to get rooms in the middle or in the back part
