The Blue River is owned by a lovely couple who care deeply about the comforts of the guests, th cleanliness of the rooms and will do what it takes to make sure you are comfortable. The staff is friendly, honest and very much like family even if it's a short stay, they do not forget a thing.
This has been home away from home, and walking distance to all kinds of great restaurants, and everything you could possibly need.

Really great location in the middle of the tourist area and the alley where the hotel is situated is really charming.
The staff was extremely helpful and caring: they drew our attention to every possible dangers and scams in Saigon, arranged great tours for us around the city and it was always a good choice to count on their advices.

Blue River Hotel is located in a quiet side alley near Bui Vien Street, the famous backpacker hotspot in Ho Chi Minh City. The rooms where nice, for HCMC still quiet and the staff was really nice and helpful.

Surprisingly quiet spot off busy street in Saigon. Most of the staff spoke reasonable English and were all very sweet and helpful. The breakfast was great. The room was very comfortable but there was no view as window was facing a blank wall. Overall very good value for money booked on agoda for around $30AUS.

The hotel is situated in a back alley on Pham Ngu Lao Street, the main road of the backpackers area. This did ensure that the rooms were quiet.
There are 3 different hotels owned by the same company along the same stretch of alley. We were upgraded to the newest hotel and given the same rates.
The biggest problem is the lack of elevator, requiring a traverse up stairs to get to the room, the highest level being 4.
The room was small but quite clean. The bathroom was small but also clean. They had a shampoo and body wash dispenser in the shower.
The rooms did come with breakfast. You had a list to choose from, either pancakes or omelettes with bread. The restaurant was however situated in one of the other hotels.
They do provide taxi shuttles to and from the airport.

Room Tip: Pick a lower level room since there aren't any elevators.

The receptionist couldn't find my reservation. But, she was very friendly. When I arrived, there was no one in the hotel manning the front desk. Someone had to be called from a sister property across the alley. The rooms are awful compared to the photos. I stayed in a 'deluxe' and it was very run down and the bathroom was not very clean. Definitely noisy in the early morning but very quiet at night. The lobby is rarely manned by anyone and the doors ARE NOT commercial locks to the rooms. Nor are there chains, dead bolts, NOTHING. And there's a BIG sign upon entering the room about 'not being responsible for theft'. You have to turn on a switch for hot water, the towels are stiff, there are ZERO amenities and the fridge had such a foul odor. For $32 a night, in the backpackers area, is ridiculous.

Stayed in deluxe suite. Found hotel room was liveable, but not overly clean I.e bed linen clean , but bathroom but could be better attended to, walls in room dirty etc . Staff friendly but not overly helpful in offering information/ advice about the city. Included breakfast was the standard. Good location , it is located in quite alley way just off main backpackers area/strip so not too noisy which was good. Was disappointed after reading good reviews for the hotel, as it did not live up to expectation. I feel I could find a better place for same $. I have previously stayed at another hotel In HCMC for half price and similar experience.
