“Friendly staff, room is basic”
Reviewed 4 December 2013

Rooms were very basic if not a little shabby. From all the excellent reviews I expected more. Basic rooms don't usually bother me but little things put us off - they only give you a thin sheet to sleep in at night. There were no bathroom amenities not even a bar of soap. TV remote not working. Scratching rat in the ceiling all night long. Our room desparately needed a paint job. But the room was clean and had a small desk safe so I appreciated that. It was also quiet at night (except for the rat) which was great.

Like every one says, the staff is incredibly friendly. They will really help you out and make an extra effort to be nice. The location is good - especially if you are choosing to tour with Sinh Tourist which is just around the corner. The rooms are cheap and I think you get what you pay for. Can't expect too much for that price - just beware as other reviewers made this place sound like it was made of gold for that price. It isn't.

I stayed at Madam Cuc's for about two weeks back in August and found it to be excellent, especially considering the cost. The staff was very friendly and helpful and was able to help when I hurt my neck. The staff also helps book trips and will helped with a visa issue I was having. The receptionist is always happy to help with information about Ho Chi Minh City and planning day trips. The street is a bit busy, but for the most part the sound wasn't a problem during my stay, all in all an excellent hotel in the heart of District One.

This Hotel was charming, friendly, clean and a great start to our stay in Vietnam. We were very much welcomed and advised about our stay and potential tourist opportunities, although though not pushed into making any commitments

Breakfast was usually a baguette, Vietnamese coffee (got to be done) and an egg of some sort and was very satisfying really. Our room was clean, air-conditioned, ensuite bathroom, simple but totally suited for a couple of days exploring Ho-Chi-Minh in a central location. A positive also was that it is not on the main tourist strip although is a couple minutes walk from the backpacking /restaurant area...which was an ideal situation for us, best of both worlds.

And well the staff were AMAZING, and in particular the catering and those assisting with baggage and domestic duties were very sweet.

We ended up returning to this place after a tour of the Mekong delta and felt like we were returning to a homeplace, I know that sounds cheesy but it is what it is. We paid $20 for a double bed and breakfast, some rooms may work out a bit more expensive than that, but if your sharing a bed requesting that room might be good. Also there is no lift in this accommodation (might be hard to find except in higher star accommodation perhaps), so if you are likely to have trouble climbing stairs either request a room near the ground floor or perhaps consider other alternatives.

The hotel is located in a busy area in Saigon, so I would reccomend asking for a room at the back of the hotel. Everything about our stay was excellent, working AC, clean sheets and towels everyday, good wifi and all for very cheap!!

We stayed here for 8 nights and could not be happier. All the staff members are so friendly and helpful. When I got sick they gave me tea all day, which was so nice! The rooms are spotless and are cleaned daily. We had a room at the back of the building so we didn't hear any noise from the main street (we were on the first floor so there was some noise from downstairs, although it didn't bother us much). The wifi connection was excellent. The free breakfast is also great, it includes a baguette with jam, eggs or banana pancake, bananas, watermelon and coffee or tea. We would definitely recommend this place.
