“Lovely place, though very loud”
Reviewed 22 November 2013 via mobile

I can't fault the hostel at all: clean rooms, lovely staff, good breakfast; but it was the worst nights sleep I've had in Vietnam. I think it may be the hub of Hue's clubbing scene, and some guests treat it as such.

If that's what you're after, it's perfect, but it wasn't right for me.

I stayed here for a few nights while travelling through Vietnam. A bit pricey for the facilities available but the bar makes a good place to meet others. Staff not reliable for directions- sent me to a deserted street for food even though they had marked it on the map. Others also had the same problem. Also ensure when booking buses that they confirm it. I recommend standing whilst they call the bus company as i missed a bus because they had not done this. Free breakfast is good though and coffee/ tea available too.

Brilliant hostel to meet people, food is overpriced about 100,000VND for your average dish, staff speak good English.

Trips booked with the hostel seemed to be overpriced too. We book a DMZ tour with 'why not hotel' for $17 and were on the same trip as people who booked with the hostel for $20.

Room Tip: Double beds available!

The staff have all been helpful and spoke good English, but can't say we found them to be exceptional. The place definitely has a party atmosphere probably well suited to those on uni gap years but we enjoyed it as being a bit different from the more relaxed hostels we have stayed in so far. We never found it to be too noisy in the room whenever you choose to go to bed, but it was sometimes too loud in the bar for you to chat to people so we often resorted to chilling out on the balcony. It was a pleasant change to get double beds within a dorm room and found the price to be good and the bed very comfortable, however the shower was tiny but good pressure so definitely livable. :-)
We found the prices of drinks and food (with the exception of during happy hour) to be significantly higher than those of other places around, so definitely worth a wander between happy hours. Really recommend going to the night market on the side of the river where beer was less than 50% cheaper and food was amazing!
Same with tours and buses, we booked our bus just down the road and saved a little bit, wish we had done the same with the DMZ tour! When chatting with another couple staying in our room they booked the tour down the road and saved 70,000VND each and we were all on exactly the same trip!
Overall a nice place to stay, would definitely come back again and recommend to oth

Room Tip: Second floor was good to be able to escape the noise from the bar without having to climb a mountain...

There's really nothing wrong with the hostel although it was a step down from the original in Hanoi. Dorm was a bit too small and the biggest problem was the group of people coming back at 3 am yelling in the dorm for almost an hour and then some of them had sex right next to us. Judging by other reviews it seems like this sort of behavior is standard here. We rented bicycles which were really good but a bit more expensive than other places. Staff were nice but it seemed a bit chaotic in the lobby. Next time we'd go there for a beer but stay somewhere else.

This hostel is the place to be to socialise. It has a great athmosphere ad there are always people to meet and drink with. Downstairs there's a good space to interact with people. The rooms are simple - your typical hostel - but the bed was very comfortable. It's right in the centre but as hue is small it's not as noisy as somewhere like hanoi. Downsides: wifi often drops out, the bathroom is in the dorm so you can hear everything.

We stayed at Hue backpackers for one night and wished we could have stayed longer. We had already stayed at the backpackers hostel in Hanoi and loved it. The staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hostel was in a good location and was in walking distance to the main attractions. The breakfast was a good size and therefore extremely filling! Just what you need for a long day sightseeing. The rooms were clean with safety boxes, storage for rucksacks and en-suite bathrooms in the dorms.

I'd recommend this hostel to any backpacker - it's definitely good value, especially if you stay in the dorm rooms.
